Crusaders vs Canes

Also while on the nostalgia trip I stumbled across an old email (2006). I think the thread was on All Black player diaries, sort of a day in the life of an all black, Dan Carter had done one and someone here on the fern had taken it upon themselves to write one for Carl Hayman in his prime, anyone remember who wrote it?

A Day In The Life

Woke up. Shaved.Killed beast, cut beast into pieces. Ate some beast. Shaved. Tore down some really big trees and threw trucks around. Ate more beast. Shaved. Moved house...little bit to the left. Ate beast. Shaved. Slept the sleep of the pure."

Was quite sad. Can't remember if that thread ended up about strippers or islam apologists..hopefully it did in true fern fashion

The Fern's first faked death? -

A grim topic...

Tim'oTei was an early poster (2003ish) who I can remember someone saying he'd passed away.

A guy I knew from school posted on here a few dozen times while he was based in London but was killed in a car crash in 2009 on the Kaimai ranges - forget what username he used though - likely a variation on "Brains".
-

There was a discussion in the Mod forum probably back in 2006 about a poster passing away. It never made it to the main forum though
-

On the plus side, hopefully there's quite a few who gave up posting because they found lives. :)
-

I fear for him. He gave up drinking, chasing women and posting on the fern, for running and being on TV.

Seems like he's one step away from becoming Kirk Cameron! :)
-

yeah I think he does work for them.

Working for Al Jazerra? Isn't he Jewish?

Say what? What happened there?

I think Cal was pre my time.
-

I've been here since 1999. In the old days it was like a public bar in a country pub with a bunch of blokes talking footy and hanging out.

The pub got renovated in the mid 2000's and a few of the old guys dropped off as the new crowd came in and have continued to do so since.

Been some true characters on here and I've learnt heaps about rugby plus been able to follow NZ's other sporting success's like the Basketball World Champs.

Still check out TSF every day and find it invaluable in keeping up with Kiwi sport.

I'm the old fella with the 7oz beer that never says anything now.
-
Been here since approx 2002, love the tag line "you heard it here first" used to say to the brother in law that it was just a minor repeat of "Planetrugby.com" man have I been wrong over the years

2004 just about 12 months before the Lions Tour and post the Mitchell era. Don't post much as I hardly played Rugby so I read, learn and then pontificate on my first love, Cricket. I will say that this place was the first port of call after Marty Crowe's death because of the community here. The Fern will always be synonymous with to my mind the greatest era of AB rugby (not over yet hopefully)
