@Tim Would like to see it from the other side, too. Did he hit Frizell's head with his shoulder?

Edit: looking at that clip, the answer is "no", I think.

When I was watching live it looked like Frizell was stationary and Vest ran into him. An unfortunate accident.

@Bovidae no. If he just bumped into Frizell, then Frizell wouldn't have bent down and lead with his shoulder.

You don't have to be moving forward to attempt a tackle.

Will be very happy if the Poms continue to ignore Freddy ...

He's 33 mate, he made England when he was in his prime.

Yeah. But he's way better than Smith

The bulk of the evidence from this year would make that claim dubious.

@Kirwan can't find a clip of it sorry. Was late in the first half though I think.

To be fair he was definitely going in low and I think you could justifiably argue it down to penalty only.

But you'd need to have a look first to do that.

Yep he it wasn't Frizzel that did tackle, was Makilio and Vest seemed to actually fall into Frizell , but I will be happy if he cited and it looked at I am proven wrong.

So Reds have lodged a formal complaint for the following:

    1. Failure to cite the tackle after the match (pretty debatable - could easily argue it didn't meet the red card threshold)
    2. They rushed Connor Vest off the field despite a neck injury being signalled.

Given every fluffybunny and his dog knows you don't move a person with a neck injury the second is pretty fucked.

Its the second point that's the serious one for me... If neck injury was signaled then everything should stop... No ifs, buts etc

@Derpus really? thats pretty basic stuff and pretty damning if true

I do often end up in the position of the medic should have told him to fuck off, whats he going to do, sart dragging the bloke off the field?

I don't know where this rumour comes from (media?), but procedurally this is wrong. It's not only the Citing Commissioner who can bring a case before the judiciairy (or a red card). The team managements involved can submit a case as well. So if the Reds have "complained", it's not likely to be about a failure to cite, but about the tackle itself. Unless the Reds don't know the procedural rules.

    1. They rushed Connor Vest off the field despite a neck injury being signalled.

This again sounds very much like someone's interpretation of what they saw on the field, without really knowing what was said by all involved (ref, team doctor, game doctor, player). Not saying it didn't happen this way, because Pickerill isn't a good ref, but I do have some doubts about this. By the way, I know you're just the messenger, so these comments aren't aimed at you, @Derpus.

I also don't think a ref can tell a player who's on the ground with a neck injury to walk off the field. Maybe the player/doctor was/felt rushed by Pickerill, that's very well possible, but then the doctor should have stood his ground and used his medical authority to say that the player should be stretchered off in stead of walk off the field. It's easy to blame the ref for everything, especially an incompetent one, but I feel this is more on the doctor/team management.

@Stargazer yeah I find it hard to believe that if the ref knew the extent of the injury he would have hurried the player off. No matter how unpopular the ref is. At worse I am guessing there was a miscommunication somewhere along the line rather than a deliberate act.

Reds problems this season could well be turned back on their coaching.
Why are the Reds copping more head injuries? It’s not like all the other teams and refs are out to get them and risk life changing injuries.
That particular one was totally down to a ball carrier charging head forward. Tacklers did all they could to get low (even if that meant clumsy illegal tackles to try and avoid the head) but if you’re going to lead with the head you can’t expect everyone to stand aside.
