Barrett has one thing Blackadder doesn't. The surname Barrett. If the wankfest about his younger brother being a midfield maestro is any indication Scott Barrett is more than likely to go down in history as the greatest AB lock ever.

Fifita outplayed Romano and Barrett with ease last night. He has a massive future and is an All Black in the making for sure. I wasn't impressed by Barrett. I thought Fatialofa also played out of his skin and is one to keep an eye on.

The Crusader's did miss Whitelock and his experience last night but that is no excuse.

I know he has the height but does he have enough weight to be a lock. 6 or 8 or 7 (whatever a 7 is nowadays).

Wiki says 107kgs for Fifita. He certainly plays above his weight.

Pretty incredible season for the Canes. After losing Nonu and Smith and then having no Broadhurst and NMS I thought they were rooted. Respect to Boyd and the coaching staff for the amazing work they've done. Not sure what the finals hold but tbh this season has exceeded my wildest expectations.

At any rate, I've hardly been in a shitfight with a Cantab since the continued non selection of Andy Ellis in the ABs since 2011 has generally kept Canerbry rocking in the corner and only making infrequent visits to the Fern and Shark seems to have never recovered from the second Chiefs Super win.

TBF, I was defending Ralph the other day but Sammy seems to be like the media these days, facts are no barrier in the quest for clicks. ;)

To be fair I thought Blackadder was the perfect guy to lead the ABs after the debacle of 1999 and with Jones and Brooke gone I thought new dynamic forwards like Flavell and Cribb would help cover any limitations in Toddys game at the highest level.

After the dark days of 98-99, Toddy ushered in the new bright era, where the coaches realised that the only sensible long run path was to put a Crusader in charge of the team. Since that time, Crusaders have captained the ABs 155 times.

Hurricanes - 30

Highlanders - 13

Blues - 6

Chiefs - 1

Great work Toddy!

Edit - sorry, Mils was probably a Chief by the time he was captain - so give his three tests to the Chiefs.

Canes were just far too good and look like a team determined to break their title drought.

The Canes have the steel about them on defense. Guys like Fifita, Fatialofa and Savea are churning out performances similar to that of the infamous Bouncer trio of So'oialo, Collins and Masoe.

Boyd and Plumtree have done wonders for the Canes. I did the maths and they have won something like 27 and lost only 7 since taking over.

If Coles, Ardie Savea and Barrett stay fit through the playoffs it's going to be tough for any team to take us out.

The only team that will threaten us from here are the Highlanders IMO with the Smith's superb under pressure.

All the Matt Todd backers have gone quiet after that Halaholo tackle. :mocking:

Too busy watching Savea conveniently put himself in a position to not be able to make a tackle...but put one hand on the breakdown. First to breakdown stats! Yay! Oh and he can then glory hunt for the perfect ball steal opportunity...and fail.

Anyway why does he run like an old man? Has he had hip problems?

It's the way he always looks like he's on his last legs that worries me. The guy looks knackered after running onto the field at the start of the game.

Massive achievement for the Canes to finish top of the table at end of the group stage. The opening round horror show in Canberra feels a long time ago. I hope they can carry their excellent form into the knock out stages.
