King of the niggle. 😂
Used to be, that's not niggle though, that's just being a dick. I'd be embarrassed if any of my teammates acted like that.
Agree. If Gilbert had stayed down and feigned injury Coles could have spent a bit of time on the sideline. Off the ball crap that may have been direct contact to the head.
Gilbert grabbed at Coles leg when Coles was moving on, Coles sat him back down
I have watched that five or six times and I have no idea what you’re seeing as grabbing his leg
-
Right, pretty down on the season already so not really surprised
Harmon, TUJ, de groot and ainsley all very good
Was happy with millar and disappointed with his injury
That’s pretty much it though, frizell very quiet, our wings never do anything because we never get them the ball…and won’t even comment of paea, Gregory etc
First time I’ve actually watched out for roigard, after seeing all the chat, he’s great, get him in there
One of the biggest things the canes seems to bring is the post contact “energy” everyone take their hit and then twists and turns, worst case they get another meter and put the tacklers in an offside position, best case they break the tackle, it was impressive…crossed the line a couple of times I think with a few rolls or crawls but generally really good
I also think proctor at 13 was very impressive, always looks to get outside and feed his wings
The only one I have a question mark about was Morgan…looks very hunt like…but not as good which is saying something
-
@Kiwiwomble Morgan was quiet yesterday, but in your return with that team around you...he played it perfectly. He's elventy million times better than Hunt, who in the same situation would have danced a few jigs into the back of Moorby and maybe a pass or two to the opposition.

Lol I've seen a lot worse than that from Colesy. I watched a club game between Poneke and Petone where he rubbed a guys face into the dirt after he smashed him in a tackle. Dane Coles will always be a pest.
I know what niggle and being a pest is, that's not it. That's being a dickhead. I'm not sure what you seeing him do in club rugby has to do with it.
-
@Kiwiwomble Paea looks like a wing covering center. He completely ignores his wings and TUJ was covering a fair bit of his defensive duties at times. The sooner Timu is back the better I think.

Have we gone soft here or are you just protective because he’s a Highlander. Dane Coles hits the kid hard and gives him a shove, who bloody cares. I’ve seen far worse off the ball shit over the years.
Dickhead or not that sort of behaviour isn’t new to rugby. I think Gilbert will get over it.

The point is it's stupid. Imagine Gilbert stayed down and it was reviewed in slow motion. He may or may not have been sent to the naughty boy chair. Are you happy to risk that as a Hurricane supporter? I'd hate to think how that would have gone down if he did that at Twickenham or Ellis Park in a Black jumper.
-
@Crazy-Horse this incident is similar to so many other incidents I’ve seen throughout the years which is why I’m struggling to see what all the fuss is about. You see dickhead behaviour like that in most games which is probably why they didn’t touch on it any further during the game. To me it’s just typical Coles behaviour. Should he act like that? Probably not. Is he a dickhead sometimes? Yes. But it’s still not new to rugby. Players do that shit all the time, and they will continue to do it in years to come. Move on I’d say, there are plenty of hot heads out there.
UPDATE: alright, I’ve watched this on a bigger screen and I see he’s clocked him in the head. My initial viewing of the incident was off a small screen so thought it was general niggle and just Coles playing ‘how’s your father’.
Fair play, anything that makes contact with the head is uncalled for so yes Coles was probably lucky this wasn’t reviewed during the match.

Yeah that's it, I'm soft because I called out dickhead behaviour...oh wait you then go on to call it dickhead too, you soft fluffybunny you.
If anyone does/did that for my team, I'd be cringing. It's not clever, it's not niggle, it's the weekend warrior type shit you see from thugs on Saturday who aren't interested in playing rugby.
It's just dumb and he should be better.

Except he’s too slow for the wing…so that basically makes him a spectator who managed to blag his way onto the pitch

I actuall wondered if Roigard run a little more to let Morgan get comfy too. Though I was stoked with Morgan on the chase of Roigards kick , where I think it was Rayasi ,and they caught Miller online and got 5m scrum for Canes. I can't say how much I like seeing things like that in a young fellas game, chasing hard and so being involved off the ball, it's not just what you do with ball in hand that makes for good play.

Geez the Blackwell haters would be quiet tonight, he went bloody well.
Up there with saying Foster managed the hookers well. Apart from a crucial mistake letting the Landers in, nearly fluffing a sure try and being otherwise fairly anonymous, he went bloody well.
Well guess you see what you want to see, if you saw that it kind of sums up how hard you watch the game. No worries though .
Not sure what Foster has to do with it. But anyway.....Or instead of yet again claiming how you the true rugby man is better than other posters, you could back up your baseless platitudes with something other than "he was really good haterz lolz". Might help your case better than claiming I don't know how to watch rugby when I actually stated stuff from the game and you gave a generic statement.
Wht are you talking about? I said I thought Blackwell went well and you replied something about Foster and hookers whatever that was about. You had a couple of beers? I also said you see what you want, we all do. You thought Blackwell was anonymous, I saw a lot, we obviously look at different parts of games. Didn't know you were a hater so wasn't even directed at you anyway.
Nice try, still not quite there eh. Yeah good one, I wanted to see Blackwell being anonymous apart from a badly taken try and a couple of dropsies. How did you know?
I guess you saw what you wanted to see. Really wish I could see such specific things as "a lot" 😂
Just thought I might point out, as I said we see what we want (but probably should of said we look at differing things in play) but was interested to see Carlos Spencer naming him as one of 2 best locks in NZ teams on weekend, and it seems he had 11 carries and tackles, so he wasn't obviously that anonymous, if you look for those kind of things.. I do, reckon workrate is really high on what I have always valued especially in tighties. And as I say it's what I see, not saying you wrong if you don't rate it.

Oh shit well I'm sold. Always thought Carlos was a great judge on a second rower, especially when he's not coaching their team.
If he's that good at judging on positions he has no idea about, I bet he's all over not having a dead duck in Beauden involved in the starting AB team.

Your post would be very on point given your own Hurricanes coaching experience and rugby playing experience at lock at Super level and above.
Carlos has coaching experience in 4 countries, he might have picked up something useful to say even when observing forwards, no?

Shut the forum down. Damnit if only I'd coached in just one more country.

Ok Bones, I not saying Carlos is a great judge of locks, obviously not as good as you anyway it appears, but the reason I pointed it out you had commented that Blackwell was anonymous on Saturday, but for whatever Carlos also must of noticed him, is all I meant, As I said we all see or look at different things for players, I don't claim to be a Blackwell fan, but I thought he had gone fairly well on Saturday. Obviously so did coaches etc as it was Bird who was replaced at lock not Blackwell (though to be fair I think Bird is a case of age and struggles to lat whole game)
