The Chiefs have learned from their 2022 semifinal defeat. Their forwards had been as dominant as they were today. But this time, their possession has been turned into points, thanks to the likes of MacKenzie and Stevenson who were outstanding.

Are there any winnable games for the Crusaders this year?

What are the odds on the Crusaders to win the spoon?

Way too early to write off the Crusaders.

Good start for the Chiefs. Cane looks like he set to annoy a few fans this year by having a good season and not just laying down for Dalton. BBBR and DMac had good shifts too - the worrying thing going by that tweet of the three of them earlier in the thread is that the Chiefs might need all 3 on the field to be at their best.

Stevenson carry on his late season form from last year.

Anyway, good way to start the proper rugby watching of the year.

I thought McKenzie had an excellent game. Makes a huge difference with someone like this calling the shots. Keep playing like this at 1st and Chiefs will be a contender.

Crusaders will come back. Highlanders next week (home in Aust) and then Drua away. Then the Blues away.

If they don't win them all they might start to worry. But Blues away will be a challenge

Pretty solid performance from young Dyer against AB props. Did he make last year's AB B team?

I agree on Cane, he just never stopped tonight, and as you say BBBR was close to MOTM, and DMac, had a pretty mature performance and controlled game pretty well.

21 points at home is a hiding, and the Chiefs have dominated the second half. Can't remember the last time the Crusaders copped it at home like this.

Clayton has already beaten the Crusaders 3 times in his 3 seasons, Leon has only beaten Crusaders once in his 5 seasons & most of those losses have been blowouts as well. For some reason I've been in the minority but I've always rated McMillan as a better head coach than McDonald. Leon is entering his 5th season and so far has only had moderate success considering the resources that have been invested 3rd party backers etc, only in 2022 with Schmidt as his assistant have Leon's Blues look truly convincing against top opposition. I found it amusing the report Scotland were looking into McDonald, I always thought of McMillan more highly, even as far back when they were coaching in the NPC.

There were a number not completed due to holding on. Vaa’i had hands on a clean one before getting blown out.

Well that was pretty fucking sweet. I was worried early on because the Crusaders defence was fucking brutal. And then they got barely deserved points and I thought "I've seen this movie before"

But the Chiefs got better and the Crusaders didn't. Retallick was a fucking beast, DMac was everywhere, and Stevenson was making guys look stupid.

And thrn we cracked the Crusaders code. Kick it back to thrm and exploit Mo'unga's U14s kicking game. We won duel after duel, they cracked we pounced. Great footy.

Best on ground was Retallick, Stevenson, Blackadder, and Dmac.

On the shit side PGS showed why he will never make the ABs again, and shouldn't be near a Chiefs starting job, did he skip preseason? The only Crusaders try was his fault 100%
You will rarely see a game shitter than what Mo'unga served up tonight. All his weaknesses were served up, with nothing of his upside. Oh, I know, let's try a kick pass. Just fucking shit.

I see love for cane but deadset he has to show more than that. Worked hard yes, but what did he offer? Not good on the ball. Slow. Didn't even hit anyone.
It was a real mixed bag from the names in the game all over really.

But shit that's a nice result

Oh, and the Chiefs have a problem. Stevenson is wasted on the wing, but Ioane and DMac one pass wider was pretty nice. How do you fit that in?

Do what they did tonight and bring Ioane on in the second half once the game opens up more with the faster pace/new rules?

I'm happy with that as long as Stevenson touches it a lot

    DMac was everywhere

He may have been, but he's consistently rocks and diamonds. Kicking is dreadful, runs players out of space.

New Zealand doesn't have a quality five eighth.

Fuck off kicking was dreadful. He kicked the Crusaders to death tonight. How you can make that call if you actually watched the game...

Definitely still scattered in some attacks, especially early on, but his kicking was close to what won us that game

I thought he was ok, better than his opposite by a mile.
