I see the cricinfo commentators are still talking like NZ can win.

Surely that option is gone now? An extra 20 runs yesterday would have been gold dust. Timmy forgot that our bowling attack is the wrong side of average these days.

@MajorRage said in NZ v Pakistan:

42 runs off 10 overs with 3 wickets in hand.

In theory, that should be pretty easy as long as the set batsman can keep the strike.

I did my best guys, but it just wasn't enough. Sorry.

    Great test match.

I feel like we let a few tricks go with our slow batting last night and the delay in taking the new ball today.

2 draws but 2 very enjoyable games.

Agree completely Damo, Have really enjoyed the series, and am happy that test cricket can still get me interested.
And kind of proof that for all some say , draw is still a result that you can have in sport without it diminsihing game.

Yeah, it’s odd isn’t it? 5 days but still a draw and yet compelling. There is much dullness in Test Cricket but at its best, it is the best.

Of course it helps if you have two teams playing positively.

I hate ‘bad light’ as a reason to stop play.

If it’s pissing down fair enough, but bad light irks me to no end

I’m guessing you were a bowler

There are degrees my dear boy. I was a specialist long on fielder that could fill in as a number 11 batsman.

Yeah I’m probably selling myself short. I was a specialist big hitting low order batsman that could occasionally fire down innocuous full tosses when needed.

thoroughly enjoyable test, probably fitting result.

I applaud Southee for his ballsy declaration it really did ensure an exicting 5th day..unfortunately we came up just short while being fortunate enough not to lose.

The nature of this pitch is a disgrace. The Pakistan bowler is bowling at 147kmh and the ball’s hardly bouncing above the stumps.

The fact they are playing on the same pitch as the last test is a shocker.

@Canes4life as in, they haven't rolled in another pitch that wasn't played on?

Pitch gripes can always be countered with the fact that both teams have to play on it.

I still think we would have won if we played better ( that’s some deep philosophising for a Tuesday morning )

Our batting was patchy as. Any little momentum we started to garner was undone by either a poor shot or good bowling that we failed to read.

A few of the Pakistani batters made it look easy.

    Noone watching tonight's game?

Not watching but quick score update...

Just lost Conway (boo) for 101 (yay).

    Kane 82 not.

    191/2 after 31.4.

Finn Allen goes early doors then Conway/Williamson partnership for 180 odd.

Major Rage turns on the telly and Conway goes after 3 balls. Nice.

Going to stick with it though, as Mitchell in now with Williamson which is a great, exciting partnership if ever there was one.

Scary that nobody posts at all for 2 hours then we post within a minute of each other.

    And Latham. And Williamson.

I'm done. will check the score in a few hours to see how much we lost by.

Blow me down, we got there.

Absolute collapse by NZ after Conway went. Moved from a position of certainty of 300+ to all gone for 261. 180 run partnership, followed by last 8 wickets gone for 80 runs.

Still, Pakistan kept losing wickets in their chase and couldn't keep up with.

1-1 going into the final match. Perfect.

@booboo These games start at 10:30 pm NZT so I doubt many will be watching the full game.

Only 3 NZ batsmen got into double figures. Good that the bowlers performed.

Went to bed at Conway 100. Expected 350 target. What a collapse. Good time to go to bed.
