@ARHS Nail on head exactly!!
I will add anyone who wants change has to do something instead of whinging on the net.
A: get on your local rugby/soccer.cricket etc club board.
B : Get the club to make presentations to board above to get changes made you require and they take it higher.
If you can't be arsed doing A, you need to think on it and see if you care enough, and if B can't be done it probably means you are in minority anyway?
But as you say, there is always the net to say how you could or would do it better.
And mo reason you can't give opinion, just namecalling and etc aren't really positive.
Lol maybe I just getting to old to read all the anti stuff and like seeing positives in life.Maybe people have all ready done all of the above and more and are sick of seeing the fuck ups.
You are judging people without knowing them doing exactly what you are moaning about.Negative stuff is because people care and people stuff up it’s life.
Everyone can not live life wearing rose tinted glasses.Nothing gets fixed or challenged so nothing gets better.Yep Chris , I guess people have done the above, and proves my point, a lot more of the people who actually are involved, do the work etc know what skills they want and need running the organisation. As I keep saying there seem to be a few who think NZR's main job is to run the ABs etc. I got news for them, it's to run the game for all from 5yo Johnny/Jenny to old Trev playing his last year or two in presidents game and everyone in between.
I believe the game is run badly when I can't go and stand on sidelines, watch and enjoy it with other likeminded people, and then have perhaps a drink after and a natter about the game etc. You know I do this almost every week in the season, and all the people I spend time with there , most have opinions of what they want done better, but none that I can recall are as bitter as the ones who seem to get carried away on the net.Well if you are calling me bitter then you are assuming shit again.
Concerned, frustrated,Wanting our game to be better right down to the grass roots.
That is what I call it.Sorry Chris I obviously got the wrong idea when you posted this:'

Crunchy the Clown.Ronald MCDonald,Mickey Mouse all could do a better job.)See to me that sounds a little bitter and does adds nothing positive. I actually think our game is run bloody well in general, we have structures in place where we can get support from further up the line at almost any level of rugby in NZ. At kids level we tend to be in a position where kids can play the game with very little cost, (in my experience anyway), club level same, I can't say for all provinces , but ones I have been involved in there was always support from above when required, and same at provincial level. That is what is important to me.
I can tell only compare with when I been involved with club in Aus and here, it's incredible the difference. Here the more players you have playing in a union, the more financial help you get to help run it, where over there the more players you have (and that included kids) , the more money you pay to support the higher echelons of rugby.
That to me speaks of a successfully run union, not a perfect one and I sure they can improve , but I don't know of any that can't improve from country to club rugby anywhere!@Dan54 said in Foster, Robertson etc:

Well lets just see how this board does going forward because they need to get things right and get with the program.
The problem is if people are just going to cheer lead and say everything is ok after the last few years it will not get any better.
Boards coaches people need to be held accountable for mistakes and challenged to improve.
Part of the problem we have now world wide is the she will be right attitude that improves nothing and a I am entitled because I am,you are entitled to nothing unless you work for it boards included.. -
A bit more in this Article from the Gatland interview discussing Razor.
****There’s only one standout person, and New Zealand [Rugby] should be doing everything they can to make sure they can secure his services long-term.”Asked how NZR must then go about doing that, Gatland said it was simple.
******“You offer him a contract, don’t you?
“Things have changed in world rugby, in the past, New Zealand would advertise for All Black positions and think that 30 coaches in the world are going to put their names forward, and then all of a sudden they realise, oh actually we’ve only got two people put their names forward, which is what happened last time.
So you’ve got to change your focus in terms of identifying the people that you want to talk to, you’ve got to keep that as confidential as possible, and that process should be starting now. You can’t wait till after the World Cup and think people are going to come knocking on your door, because that doesn’t happen in professional sport.******“And that’s how other countries are doing it at the moment, they’re drawing up lists of a small number of candidates that they want to talk to over the next few months, and some of them are loo****king to make announcements early next year.”

Where is it written that NZR are doing this, this time?
-
@Chris Yep , but there a difference between cheer leading and saying everything is ok, that neither I nor anyone else has said , and not giving credit for anything maybe. I think in general NZR do a good job, actually think that about almost every rugby board, including England/Wales etc, but can not prefect.
But anyway, we actually agree that they can do better in some things, and every board/club/governmet/etc etc can.
Anyway we probably discussed it enough,, even allowing for the fact we haven't got any games to get our teeth into! -

An effective Chair who can work with and control the CEO is key IMO.
Yep. I'd only add that it can be the other way around as well. Teamwork is as important in top tier management as it is in the team itself.

@Bones said in Foster, Robertson etc:
One of the most stupid articles Bidwell has ever written and that's saying something.
"If they wanted him in the national set up he would be there by now." - Razor doesn't want to work with anyone other than his own team.
"We hounded Warren Gatland out of this country." - really?
"We made it clear to Jamie Joseph and Tony Brown and Dave Rennie that they had no future here." - Um, no. They were offered other opportunities and decided not to be dogs with two bones.Article reads like the post of a pissy fans, ignoring facts to make a point.
-
@Crucial we know NZR's handling of this hasnt been great, but some of the shite our media are coming out with is worse!
Razr has stated his preferred job, is with the ABs, you would expect NZR are working on things post RWC already as well.
So while I dont have much faith in NZR after some of the poor decisions of the past years, this is one that surely even they cant bungle.
-
@taniwharugby if they at least dont have discusstions with j joseph i would be pissed off

@ploughboy is he coming off contract? You'd think Japan wouldn't be keen to let him go, and Japan must be almost home to him now?
But agree, I do hope they are reaching out to guys like him as well, I mean imagine if we could get him and Razr on the same team

zero chance of getting them on same team -

@Victor-Meldrew almost certainly, personally i dont think its out of line for the top job, an assistant doesn't get a say on who the head coach is....but a head coach gets a say on the assitant
