@Crucial Not sure if there's any confirmation if it was defying what the ref asked but also the taking of the quick conversion after Kellaway's try from the Foley pass.
It's comical when you watch it, ref puts his hand up 3x to signal him to wait, including a more sudden movement as he starts to move forward. Foley only takes 2 steps back also, it's miles from his regular set-up.
Clever from Foley I guess. Would have been interesting if he'd missed it, he would probably have claimed the ref put him off ๐
It was pretty evident at the ground too the way Foley was hurrying and even when Raynal intervened, there was nothing going to stop Foley from kicking. Laws, game feel, mabo, who knows. But the points counted an that's all that matters in the end....just like that final Jordie try
It is comical, all of this stuff, because it further highlights the things wrong with the current state of the game in my view. I love rugby but currently there is more wrong with the top game than right.
Listening to Gerard Whateley this morning, someone I respect as a commentator and caller, and general sports lover, struggle to understand what is happening in the game (not just the Foley incident). He's a smart fella and readily admitted that it's one sport that he has struggled with over the years, was quite interesting.

im sure i have seen refs stand in front of the kicker to prevent them kicking it

Yeah! They'll basically just stand on the ball, I've even seen them just tap it off the tee with their foot. Why wouldn't he have called time off anyway?

Now we are back to snakes and all sorts of foot rolling. Itโs a massive blight on the game.
It's funny, watching this weekend's games I was delighted to see the halfbacks playing it back with their feet instead of their hands.

He was just about to blow, bringing the whistle to his lips and Foley kicked. Gallic shrug and he carries on. Obviously doesn't know that he can still go back and check with TMO

So the Wobs have launched an official complaint about Raynal. Did they launch a complaint against Nick White's dive?
-
@Kiwiwomble pretty sure ive seen ones in npc where the ref actually picked up the ball.
@Crucial hearing is tonight isn't it?

Of course. The QCs (KCs) canโt possibly let things interfere with their normal billable hours

I mean that loss would fucking hurt for the Wallabies and their diehard fans, I can see why the salty tears are flowing. This is the worst AB team they've played in 20 years, they had just effected an amazing comeback (a FAMOUS comeback) and had what was likely the winning penalty to seal the deal. That was going to set up the chance of history at Eden Park - taking down the Fortress and taking the Bledisloe home with them, the stuff of wet dreams for their fans and players alike. And then Foley fucks around, the ref hands the ABs the ball on their line, and of course we fucking score to break their hearts for the 20th year running. If I was a Wallabies fan I would have thrown my fucking TV out the window after that shit.
-
@No-Quarter it's even more glorious when you spell it out like that

@No-Quarter said like a true kiwi married to an Aussie girl and one that watches rugga too ๐

Absolutely true. And very funny from my seat

@No-Quarter and then the NZ coach goes and sides with the French lol

Whenever I have even a thought that Aussie rugby may need a shoulder to cry on or a bit of sympathyโฆ.
And Mils scored in the corner

Foley's folly. The movie writes itself. Matt Damon can play him.

That level of whinging is undignified. All involved should be ashamed to have participated in that.
If it was in reverse unsure how I would feel. I think more inclined to blame the player for just ignoring the ref's warning
i know exactly how this would have gone had Mo'unga been the guilty party
The Cantabs would have been piling in to Raynal hard out
The Auckland guys would have been piling in to Mo'unga
Half of everyone else would have blamed Foster. The other half would have blamed a Ioane brother.
Haha post of the year right there!
