so we should deliberately play a worse team now in case we might have to play a worse team later?
You think having Fakatava or Sotutu on the bench makes the team that much "worse"?
the coaches do and that's all that matters
Hah! Good to see the return of that old chestnut.

@bayimports same starting lineup in consecutive tests = Fozzie has run out of ideas
lol that could be a good thing, it could mean this is someone elses idea

Why are they asking a guy from Feilding and another from Taranaki how excited they are to play at 'home'?
Well they both live in Christchurch with their families and have properties there.
But you know that of course. -
I think we're going to stuff the Argies.

If he breaks, we bring the next guy in.
Just need to make sure the next guy has enough experience so there's minimal drop-off.
Rotation is highly over rated.
Not a word I've liked to hear since 2007

Hopefully a good win, and then the opportunity to make changes for the next test.
can i ask why? is it just to see your favourite players get a run?
Nope. I'm thinking more on the bench (e.g., Sotutu, Fakatava) to see what they can do, as an alternative. Picking the same team every week is great until you have injuries and the replacement comes in cold.
Yep, with Weber and TJP no longer in the picture, we have one 33-year-old veteran halfback, one reasonably new 26-year-old and one rookie of 22. The rookie needs game time, in case one of the other two goes down with injury. I hate the thought of Smith getting injured and all we have is 8-cap Christie (who is okay, but not more than that) and Fakatava, who has a higher ceiling but has only had 37 minutes in the black jersey. I hope Fakatava gets game time in the second Puma test.
I guess the issue Foster & co have now is minimal game time before RWC2023 to give experience to new-ish players. Requires some tricky management.

@Daffy-Jaffy you can certainly see why the players like him, seems very personable, and given how under the pump he has been, must be a nice change for him...
I hope Ellis Park is the turning point for him and this group, confidence breeds confidence, and with it comes luck too.
In many ways, this game is the acid test and we'll see if the corner has been turned or Ellis Park was a one-off.

Sam Whitelock is a bit of an unheralded AB legend.
Impressive at the presser too. Obviously someone who didn't come down in the last shower.

-
@Victor-Meldrew hopefully they do put up a good test, as history suggests we should win this easily, with the closest result this century being 15 point margin in 2013....

Casually drops that he played a test at Jade Stadium, here is the team list from that game, of interest a few of the Convicts are still playing.
New Zealand vs Australia at AMI Stadium

History also said that the Pumas weren’t capable of bending Wallabies over and reaming them by 50.
History is a prick. -

The TAB agrees with you.
We're at $1.08 and the Argies are at $7.
Not only that, to win TRC we're at $1.27. The Saffas are at $4.50 and the expected also rans are a fair distance further out.
All is well in the TAB world.
To be honest, I don't think they're too far wrong, but the Argies at $7 are worth a small insurance investment.

first match I am feeling confident about this year...based on what I saw from our last match and expected further improvements based on consistency of rolling out the same team.
Not sure by how much, but I have not been confident with any of the previous games this year
