If you look the actual numbers of immigrants being bused into NYC and DC, it’s peanuts compared to the tidal wave Texans are expected to deal with in their neighborhoods with fuckall support from the federal government.
Peanuts, yet these Democratic do-gooders who pat themselves on the back signalling virtue, are now panicking and declaring a state of emergency, all the while supporting open borders, undocumented entry, and inviting them to their official “sanctuary cities”.
Panicking like helpless crying babies. Their bed. They made it. Now that they’re being made to suffer the consequences of their own policies and having to sleep in it, they blame the Governor of Texas and call it a “stunt”?
It’s sad, but their comeuppance is entirely justified.
I expect that wall is going to get completed yet.
Biden is already fixing the wall

Pretty big few days in the USA...
- Inflation reduction act passes (Insulin price cap didn't make it through though)
- Burn Pit Bill passes
- Alex Jones's phone information is shared with the Jan 6 committee. One of his many lawyers fucked up and didn't contest it being shared in the damages case for Sandy Hook stuff. Who knows what that will turn up
- Trump's Mar-a-logo estate gets raided by FBI - saw some folks saying it was about Whitehouse records Trump (or staff) had removed and others saying it could be related to the info on Alex Jones's phone.
- Ongoing state-level law changes around abortion
Then there's Pelosi rarking up the Chinese with her Taiwan trip. I think that visit actually cost her with some recent (totally above board. ahem) stock purchases connected with computer chips.
-
The Mar a Lago raid is likely to be the popcorn event. In simple terms it ought to boil down to one of three outcomes:-
- Trump is innocent and it’s a witch hunt.
- Trump is found to have illegally kept WH documents and “something must be done”.
- Trump found to have kept some WH documents but nothing illegal. Nothing to see here, move along. Fudge, fudge.
My guess is no 3.

@Catogrande seems like a really big action to take if they have any doubt on wrong doing. Even if they are treating it as an aggressive audit or some shit. It's already riled up a big bunch of folks.

Inflation reduction act....😂😂😂😂. Mainly a climate change bill with a dollop of health care reform. Ergo, it is a spending bill, that will ultimately increase energy prices. That will stop that blasted inflation.
They really do think ppl are fools and this type of thing shows they really, really don't care.

I wonder if Hillary still has any documents on her private server 😂. The constant Trump derangement is just a distraction. He's a useful idiot to keep ppl's focus off other areas that really do require focus and analysis.

Whilst I don’t doubt this aspect of things, in this instance it seems the investigation was at the behest of the National Archive. Not usually thought of as overtly political?

Everything in the US has become overtly political. Partisanship has gone bonkers.

It's difficult to not come to the conclusion that the DoJ is compromised by political appointees.

@stodders so it'd be worthwhile noting instances when this sort of action aren't driven by politics? Not that the FBI raid the premises of an ex-president everyday.
FBI didn't raid Clinton's premises when they had sufficient reason to do so because they knew she was hoarding emails and documents. How else do you explain the non-action on her? US institutions should be politically agnostic (i know this is hard), but they have been made political. Both sides are to blame on this.

Also, have the DoJ or the FBI done anything about Hunter Biden's laptop or his business dealings in Ukraine? Or are they waiting for Biden's Presidential term to end before pursuing that one?
Nobody should be above the law (although this hasn't been the case for a long time). I have no issue with the FBI going after Trump if it didn't stink of being politically motivated to stop him from running in 2024 and if the DoJ/FBI/CIA were even handed in bringing people to justice based on their crimes, not their political persuasions.

But apparently this investigation was prompted by the NA rather than the DoJ or the FBI/CIA. Moreover for the FBI to search the property, they required a warrant authorised and signed by an independent judge (we'll all probably have a different view about the likelihood of such an animal existing). In terms of precedent for the NA to request such a thing, you would need to look back to February of this year.
Quote: In February, the National Archives said it had retrieved 15 boxes of papers from Mar-a-Lago, which Mr Trump should have turned over when he left the White House.
The agency later told Congress the boxes included "items marked as classified national security information".I can quite see the justification for such a search, though it is also easy to see perhaps similar justification for going after Hillary's laptop. However there is no amount of whatabouttery can diminish the legality of this search - certainly with what has been presented so far.

Not saying it isn't legitimate. Just that the tit-for-tat that is the Dems vs GOP is so toxic.

Read today the Republicans are planning to hold an enquiry into the DoJ & FBI if they win a majority in the mid-terms. And this was from the more sensible side of the party.

Which means it will happen, as I can't see the Dems winning the mid-terms. Biden is selling/releasing the strategic oil reserves to bring down gas prices just in time for them (such a cynical, short-term move), but it won't matter.

I genuinely feel sorry for the bloke but you have to ask if he'll make it to full term

He put himself in that position.
What on earth do you have to do to fail the Presidential fit-for-office test? He is obviously incapable of being left unattended. His wife is effectively his 24/7 nurse. It is absurd.
