Springboks v All Blacks I

@TheMojoman I disagree about Akira. I don’t think he’s best off the bench just because we like the idea of him coming out against tired opposition. I think when he starts he gets into the rhythm of the game and seems to look more connected.

Ball protection needs to be better by the ABs. This is something that I would like to see improve since the Irish series. They've had plenty of time to understand their roles in the attacking patterns.
Cleaners need to be close to the ball carrier to stop the Boks from contesting and generating quick ball. The Boks will look to contest the breakdown to stop ABs from playing their tempo game. ABs showed last year, as did Oz and England , that you can break the Bok defence down with 2-3 quick phases. But you need to be super accurate to do so.

@Nepia need to mix it up, we are far too predictable.
Too often he stands on the wing redundant when he'd be more useful in closer either carrying or cleaning.
Need to vary our play from that wide pass from Smith, bring some in close, keep the same way for more than 2, but more importantly, hit the ball at fucking pace for fuck sake!
Run some angles, use deception, this is where Sotutu would be great.
Too often we are getting the ball 1 step from static or static and therefore so easy to pick off with a half decent d, and the Irish rush d is probably the best.
Keep it simple, run hard and fast.

Foster at the press conference,
“We have never been a great July team “
Well thank fuck it’s August then

Interesting that newshub have just shown a ~30 sec montage of the NZ - SA rivalry, and now talking to Goldie and a SA commentator...not seen anything like this for some time, usually just a cursory comment on the team, even during the Irish tour there was little talk (that I saw) like this on MSM
Guess Fozzie is generating some interest...

The ABs will need to find a way to ensure attacking ball from the middle or back of the lineout. Ireland, with a weaker lineout than SAs, effectively shut down those areas and forced NZ to throw to the front. It’s very hard to launch midfield plays when Smith is forced to pass that distance. I think it’s part of the reason why Irelands rush defence was so effective. It’s also crap ball to maul off.

A typically shocking team...
Also I thought Angus was suspended?
Got a week off for going to a how to tackle course
I hope they sent the entire squad to that course.

Both surprised and disappointed to see Reece out of the lineup and Clarke in. But I thought he might be 23.
I remain sceptical about our choices at 12 and 6. Let's hope that both step up for 80 minutes and spark us to a victory.@ARHS said in Springboks v All Blacks I:

Havilli might well end up a speed bump for De Allende though.
