All Blacks 2022

@kiwiinmelb wasnt it about a year ago they would have been negotiating his contract?
At that time, surely NZR had 2022 KPIs written in, that was pre-NH tour...

A series win against Ireland would do wonders for the confidence of the squad.
That's a pretty sad state of affairs though eh.
If NZ squeak a win next week I very much doubt there'll be a host of celebratory hands in the air.
They would have been targeting 3 zip as the only pass mark.
I’m not sure if it was or wasn’t, but from my perspective we have a depth problem on a couple of fronts - we lack some hardened test players in several positions and for some positions we are only one injury away from being exposed. So we are vulnerable to losing (as much as any other tier 1 test team out there).
These aren’t excuses for Foster but areas where we need to continually work and build on. What’s on Foster and the other coaches is if they doing the things to address that.

Yeah but that's the thing, they're absolutely not.
It took complete fate to end up with Taukieaho, Akira and Rieko.

@Frye as I said in the other thread, surely that and retaining the Bledisloe should have been non-negotiable KPIs for this season.
You talk like the NZR have things like this in the contract, I honestly don’t think they do, otherwise the defeat to Argentina should have seen the back of Foster. Not losing to a country ABs have never lost before is a non negotiable for a coach IMO. Last time it happened we got late, lazy Hansen and the 2015 game plan for ‘four more years’

We have been in gradual decline both in coaching and players since 2018. We can only hope we start pulling out of it soon. Probably not going to happen until 2024. But what we need is a Black Ferns style insurrection and coaching change. Forget winning 2023 and allow Razor to come jn and rebuild without external pressure of expectations

you know what is fucking me off?
look, i know PR is a thing, and you need to plant your own message
but seriously, the relentless optimism and excuse making is pretty fucking rough to take. Just once, admit we were a bit shit and we have some stuff to work on? Shit even Craig Bellamy will tell you when things aren't going well, and they win like 80% of the games they play.
Last year it was a tough end to a long year.
This year, when surely Ireland have that excuse, it's cards and unforeseen circumstances. We're not improving mate. Saturday looked a lot like Dublin in November. A smashed pack rendering our backline useless. Our ball slow, their ball not, creaky set piece.
South Africa (loss)
USA (win)
Wales (win)
Italy (win)
Ireland (loss)
France (loss)
Ireland (win
Ireland (loss)that's fucking dogshit. Admit it is FFS.

@mariner4life the more concerning thing is what's coming:
Ireland
SA (Away)
SA (Away)
Argentina
Argentina
Australia
Aus (Away)
NH Tour
Wales (sure Taffs everywhere are salivating right now!)
Scotland (I bet even they are dreaming right now)
England*edited order
-
@taniwharugby Yeah, a tough assignment. Playing SA after Ireland though, not Argentina.

@akan004 cheers, the schedule on the website makes it appear Argies are first (as it shows home fixtures at top)
Whoever administers the All Blacks’ website can go as well

Seriously - who was the last experienced AB starter who got truly dropped/benched for a period of time?
Frizell and Bridge are probably the closest 2. EDIT I'd add Perenara but he very rarely started anyway.

@KiwiMurph and we wonder why players go overseas, they must look at the AB's and think they have no chance

the real issue is that when the All Black jersey loses its pull, the exodus will be massive. There is big money overseas, and we just can't compete financially. We're already seeing the hollowing out effect - for 2019 the play of Luatua, Vito, Piutau, Faumauina would have plugged the holes in the squad.
Fair play to NZR, the silver lake deal in hindsight looks better and better. Cash in while yuo can

We saw that in 07 as well with an exodus of players too.

Ardie Savea saying in his press conference today that he didn't know that the All Blacks had never lost to Ireland in NZ before Saturday.
Seriously wtf?
A senior leader in the team and the ABs home record isn't touched upon at all in the leadup to the series?
What the hell is going on with the AB culture?
