@Tim bugger - hopefully he can get a full preseason in for world cup season 2023.

Yeah. His absence virtually guarantees Jacobsen a squad spot now.

Not that I think he’s in our top 6 loosies, but I hope Frizell gets selected just to see the melt down on here.

Yes, that is the level of things 😀

If they persist with the Cane / Ardie 7-8 then I’d have Akira at 6 and Sotutu on the bench. That’s even with a fit Papali’i and Blackadder.

It's less risky to pick a guy who was a below average 12 (and is still nothing special) than a guy who actually looks more than comfortable there.

The logic Foster will probably use, is it's less risky to pick a guy with 19 caps at Test level (and I thought he was OK, though nothing special) than a guy with 0 caps and under 10 games at the level below and pit him against one of the better midfields in world rugby.

logic in having DH in the 23 for the 1st Test as a safe option

logic? how? i don't get this. how is a player proven to be not to standard considered a safe choice just because he has pulled on a jersey before?

I'm just pointing out that, for the coaches, there is see some logic in having a utility who can cover much of the backline and is familiar with the environment for a key 1st Test.

If all are fit, I hope to see

    9-Smith
    10-Barrett
    11-Clarke
    12-Barrett
    13-Ioane
    14-Reece
    15-Jordan

    21-Christie
    22-Mo’unga
    23-Tupaea or Goodhue

    Now do the forwards 🙂

    J. Moody, C. Taylor, O. Franks, S. Whitelock, L. Romano, S. Barrett, E. Blackadder, C. Grace

    😎

    Really? Franks over Bower?

I will almost bet my balls he is, every rugby pundit etc I have heard etc have him in the squad, whether he gets on field against Irish is another story, but he will be in squad I really stronly suspect.
I will also be very surprised if the 3 loosies you name aren't in starting line up for first test, and have actually in my team that I was silly enough to put in here.

I agree Frizell will be there. He wouldn't be in my squad but they'll pick him.

There needs to be some fun given Bridge isn’t likely to be picked

I'd be interested to know how many of that huge number of caps (just over a season of caps really) are at 12.

Dunno. but a whole lot more than Jordie, RTS or the still-green QT.

Does it? It helps his chances but I still think he’ll struggle to squeeze in

What loosies do you think they’ll pick?

    Agree.

With Cane and Savea dead certainties and Papali’i very likely, they do have a lot of bases covered.

Add Ioane and Sotutu who the AB coaches seem to play as specialist 6 and 8 respectively, there is the opportunity to select another specialist 6 or 8. One that has a bit of size and loves to run the ball.

Cane, Savea, Papalii, Ioane, Sotutu certainties. Three who can play 7, three who can play 8, two who can play 6.

With Vaa'i able to cover six, there may only be one spot left?

Frizell, Jacobson, Robinson competing for one spot?

Given injury who misses out to Frizell?

Don't have a problem with his selection if there's a couple out and he's the best of the rest.

@Tim and of those 3, Frizell is probably the least versatile, Jacobson the most versatile...so I think he's the other loosie.

I think with all the loosies pretty much established (comparatively) then it'd be a good idea to plump for MMT or Sowakula, I think Robinson will just be unlucky, especially with Vaai showing similar abilities.
