@paekakboyz saw a headline where Rock has said he wont lay charges 🤷🏻♂

Probably did a stunt slap. Just for the wife's benefit. Someone owes someone a beer or two

Yeah I had another look, I think this is accurate.

Yeah definitely, Smith looks like he's trying to stifle a laugh when he's walking away and the whole slapping action from Smith's weird "I'll teach you a lesson boy" stance to Rock swinging his head back like he's been slapped in a wrestling ring.

The people going up to comfort Smith (wtf he was the one who took a swing) didn't seem to think it was an act. Bizarre

Oh sure, a bunch of Hollywood elitists detached from reality react to something unrealistically...who woulda thought 🙂

Agreed the slap itself looked staged…but his shouting when back in his seat and rock reaction didn’t…

Yeah yeah and lethal weapon 4 is a true story 😁

That's the thing with actors and actresses. You never know when it's all just an act....

Only in Hollywood could somebody be physically assaulted, and the person who committed the offence be the one that required all the sympathy / comforting.

Regardless of what you think about the joke, either violence is never acceptable or it is. Clearly, Hollywood thinks it is.

@majorrage brief viewings I've seen show Smith apologising to everyone but Rock (and unashamedly begging to keep his career). Nobody has even batted an eyelid at that, so did he apologise to Rock and it just wasn't in the clips?

You obviously think Chris rock is a better actor than I do!…and I don’t believe will smith would agree to yell fuck in the middle of the Oscar’s as a “skit”

@bones yeah, so you’re saying they were acting…I think the slap looked fake…but the shit after didnt…because I don’t think Chris rock is that good an actor and he looked really flustered…stumbled over the award he was giving…which is why the whole thing is just weird

@kiwiwomble I haven't watched that much of it, so maybe you're right. Seems legit, Will Smith Swore! And Chris Rock stumbled.

Now Will Smith is forever that guy who hit someone at an award ceremony.
Would have been way easier to justify if he'd hit a white guy.
Could of gone on about white victimization of blacks or something.
    What an idiot!!!

Personally, I think he hit him because of the joke.

I don’t think it was staged, and I do think Smith lost control.

I know a boatload of people to whom you couldn't make a joke about their wife, especially pointing out something they are probably pretty embarrassed about. If I were honest, I'm probably one of them.

These guys are just people, and even though it is a big big stage, they can still make stupid decisions (which this was).

I wouldn't have a problem with Rock pressing charges, but then he'd be known as the guy who made fun of a guys wife and then couldn't take the slap he may or may not have deserved.

For the record, I thought it was a shit joke unless he was sure that she would see the funny side.

@gt12 Heaven help Ricky Gervais if he ever mocked Will Smith's wife. Rock's joke seemed tame compared to RG's material at the Golden Globes in years past

Bet no-one says shit about her now.

But, you’re right it was tame, but I don’t think that in that moment, at that time, it was tame to Smith.

That doesn’t make Smith right either, I’m just saying that at the end of the day he’s a husband.

To be honest, I don't really have an issue with Chris Rock saying the joke, or Will Smith's reaction to it. I think Smith did cross a line but you never know what people are going through, so this may have made him snap. It happens to everybody. Nobody is excluded.

It's the Hollywood reaction & the subsequent explosion amongst virtual signalling piston wristed gibbons which is sickening.

In case you aren't aware, Will Smith is the first person ever to stick up for a woman of colour. And thus, he's a hero.

I'm seriously wondering WTF is woke about this years Oscars compared to other years?

A film kind of about disability won. Films about disabilities have won lots of years. This years winner was a bloody good film and the closest to a comedy that we'll ever see win an Oscar. And the protagonist wasn't the one with the disability.

The rest are pretty typical Oscar fair aside from Dune. One had a black lead. One had gay cowboys, as already pointed out this is now a recurring Oscar theme, the older one was much better than this one. One was Japanese. One was a musical remake from the 60s. One was set in Northern Ireland. One was about Carnies but thankfully didn't have any fish fucking. One was marmite movie that I guess will be considered woke. The least woke movie was by far the worst.

This place is always crying woke.

Also, Saving Private Ryan didn't fucking win (they should have burnt down the Oscars there and then) and The Deer Hunter is overrated.

That's because woke = shit entertainment.

I enjoyed a bunch of the Oscar nominated movies this year, thought some were complete rubbish too. Didn't think about whether they were woke or not until today's comments on this thread.

No one's forced to watch any of them. I assume there's lots of movies out there that don't meet whatever your definition of woke is.

Getting triggered by comments about the Oscars being woke is like getting triggered about comments about the sky being blue.
