With a big thank you to Ardie. Finally, we get to see Tony Lamborn on the bench again. Hopefully, he'll get more than 5 minutes on the field this time.

Canes are lucky it's only the Reds for their experiment with newbie Goosen.
-

This side should still get the job done. Probably asking too much for a bonus point victory but we should get the 4. Reds however will see this as the perfect opportunity to pounce on a weakened Canes side.

Goosen has been in hot form for his club so hopefully he can bring that confidence into this game.

Annoying that those players broke protocol, not a good look. Wonder if Coles was more pissed about not being invited or that it was his experienced guys goofing off

Not a good look in particular for the Savea's - Ardie has chosen an interesting way to show his commitment to the Canes (rather than 7's) and his big bro still seems to be cruising along. Maybe the latter needs a bigger boot to the ass?

Victor is leaving end of season so this could give someone else a sniff and who knows what was going through CJ's mind...

Not the biggest deal in the world but ffs is it that hard to operate within the team rules?
-

Julian doesn't deserve a Black jersey in June from the way hes been carrying on.

First he starts the season fat and lazy, secondly once he got fit he has done pretty much f all and now this. He is going the right way about throwing his jersey away.

Personally I wouldn't pick him just to give him a wake up call. That may sound harsh but I think it's the right thing to do to get him switched on again.

We have too much talent in NZ for him to be pissing around.
-

I was at the pre season game against the Blues in Eke and id have to say Goosen was our best back on the park. He has some real gas. He kind of reminds me of Jordaan from the Sharks. Not the biggest but he has a big ticker.
-

Is Julean Savea become the Tamiefuna of Backs? Wasting his talent and getting fat?!?

wait what? wasting his talent? A guy with 41 caps and 38 tries? World Cup winner (as a starting player) Julian Savea?
-

I'm not actually convinced we do, on the wings at least. Especially to slot in as a starting player in a months time
-

I thought that was a done deal?

I knew someone would say that and not see what I meant! :)

I meant now he seems to be rather than over-all. (I'm also not comparing acheivements between the two fatties)
-

I'm pretty sure that Ngatai and Moala, although no real outside backs, would do fine against Wales on the left wing.
-

He's a professional athlete in a professional team being picked every week. And an established member of the national side in an environment where every resource is aimed at ensuring the national team remains at the pinnacle. I think if his skin folds weren't at acceptable levels, and his on-field output wasn't up to scratch, he would know about it from every level. I would be astounded if his spot was in jeopardy for June that he didn't already know about it.
-

yea, this is the All Blacks, i expect a little more than "do fine". And if that is the bar, then i am even more sure J Savea would "do fine".

That aside, i think Moala would be more than fine, i think he would do a good job, and if he gets picked, i expect it as a wing/centre utility. I would also be happy with Dagg coming back in, Smith going back to wing, and Naholo moving. But my point is, you would want to be bloody sure of yourself before you cut an established, and proven All Black. You don't do it "to send a message" if you don't have anyone that's noticeably better. This applies especially for the ABs, who seem to ignore Super Rugby form for established players.
-

And a terrible 1 on 1 tackler :)
