First he starts the season fat and lazy, secondly once he got fit he has done pretty much f all and now this. He is going the right way about throwing his jersey away.

Personally I wouldn't pick him just to give him a wake up call. That may sound harsh but I think it's the right thing to do to get him switched on again.

I'm not actually convinced we do, on the wings at least. Especially to slot in as a starting player in a months time
-

I thought that was a done deal?

I knew someone would say that and not see what I meant! :)

I meant now he seems to be rather than over-all. (I'm also not comparing acheivements between the two fatties)
-

I'm pretty sure that Ngatai and Moala, although no real outside backs, would do fine against Wales on the left wing.
-

He's a professional athlete in a professional team being picked every week. And an established member of the national side in an environment where every resource is aimed at ensuring the national team remains at the pinnacle. I think if his skin folds weren't at acceptable levels, and his on-field output wasn't up to scratch, he would know about it from every level. I would be astounded if his spot was in jeopardy for June that he didn't already know about it.
-

yea, this is the All Blacks, i expect a little more than "do fine". And if that is the bar, then i am even more sure J Savea would "do fine".

That aside, i think Moala would be more than fine, i think he would do a good job, and if he gets picked, i expect it as a wing/centre utility. I would also be happy with Dagg coming back in, Smith going back to wing, and Naholo moving. But my point is, you would want to be bloody sure of yourself before you cut an established, and proven All Black. You don't do it "to send a message" if you don't have anyone that's noticeably better. This applies especially for the ABs, who seem to ignore Super Rugby form for established players.
-

decent level Super rugby player, not sure he's any more than that. And there are a couple around in that basket.
-

decision making can be ropey as well

He misses a lot of tackles, it's an observation (I don't know how the stats treat clear misses)

Savea, Ngatai and Mo'ala are hardly known for their defense anyway.
-

I've been his biggest critic about this in the last few years.... has been very reluctant to put his body on the line while playing for the crusaders in both attack and defense.

If he goes into the tackle with the ball it is effectively a turn over to the other team
-

Fair enough, perhaps not Lowe then :)

I am a fan of statistics either way, but recently I've had to rely solely on them as I've had little chance to actually watch most the games (particularly the ones Lowe has been a part of this season). Either way, I think we have people that can come in and do a reasonable job while Savea (hopefully) gets his act together before the Rugby Championship.
-

On one hand I agree with you but I am not sure having one rule for some players and another rule for others is a good look. The AB selectors have been tolerant with ABs in the past who have had poor Super campaigns.
