    What's Brewis like.

Young. NPC level unless he's improved a lot since the NPC.

I would have signed Sam Matenga instead of him, but Razor likes Cantabs.

@bovidae Just my luck to get stuck into covid isolation today... Seems like waiting forever for a home game

I agree with those who like the quick re-match.

    Isn't Matenga a tighthead?

Chiefs have the better forward pack, way more dynamic loosies and powerful ball carrying forwards. Saders have the better backline. I cannot wait for this contest, it's gonna be an absolute ripper snorter. The rematch with Chiefs at home and spectators allowed back again... Bloody stoked for this match.

PGS's ball carrying will be missed though.

Finau is a pretty good carrier and Vai'i made the most metres of the forwardslast week anyway.

I think the Chiefs forwards will likely dominate once again but the Crusaders backs might see a few more opportunities to strike compared to the previous week. Gonna be another awfully tight match I reckon.

Is Sam Matenga related to the other East Coast prop of the late nineties / early noughties?

@bones Very likely. His dad is called Sam, too. Sam jr is from Gisborne and played for East Coast in their centenary game, last year. I don't know how many Sam Matenga's there are, but I assume they are father and son.

@stargazer why do I get the feeling that the only reason you were first to respond was because your Bay Alert went off? 🙂

I've said it a few times but Chiefs is the team to beat. Really strong in all areas and I think the most innovative at this stage, you can see the Gats influence in beating rushing defenses.

Maybe I just answered your question first because I'm the first, or the only, who could be bothered to google the answer. 🙂

Would that closed fist fend be met with a sanction of some sort nowadays? Looks like the black 5 has either ducked his head out of the firing line or he has already been hit and his head knocked into the position seen in the photo. Only mitigating factor would be the position of the blue players thumb, unless he is attempting an eye gouge as a double whammy!

@higgins Lokotui has clearly already gouged gentle giant Sammy's eyes out and is now attempting to proceed with a left handed rectal exam (the worst kind). Poor Sammy has already begun seizure, hence the clenched jaw and hand.

My thoughts also. At the beginning of the season I said Chiefs forwards were better than Crusaders, more talented & more dynamic. Blues have a more talented squad also. The Crusaders have been getting by on better systems and culture, as the Blues really should've cantered to the title in 2020 & 2021 based on pure talent alone, however Razor's system continually proves that a champion team will always beat a team of champions.

This Saders aren’t very good revisionism here is fascinating.

They have a squad with the second to fewest rookies, surrounded by the spine of the AB team (12 current ABs) plus an Argie import and a bunch of past ABs.

Thankfully they’ve got Razor to motivate this young and inexperienced group.
