@nzzp I didn't have a problem with it once I saw it and the correct call was made.
4 minutes to set a scrum however....
Nah. Bloke goes up in the air to catch a cross kick, gets it wrong/is slightly impeded and knocks it on. Bollocks to that result. When they were going to the TMO, I thought hang on that's a bit unfair, the Jock was going for the ball and didn't really impact things, this is bullshit and then fuck me it goes the other way. PT and a yellow. That was complete bollocks. Oh and only a penalty five minute later for a dangerous neck roll.
Ben O'Keefe is a poor ref and not helped by his reliance on third officials.

That’s just wrong. He made zero attempt to catch, knocked it forward on purpose.
Your problem is with the rules, not the ref.
(Need a wash now)

Watch again in a week and your view might be less clouded.
LCD quite obviously played the ball by batting it away. Deliberate knock forward AND deliberately making ball dead. No attempt to catch it at all.As for the neck roll? That was the harsh call but happy to live with it for safety sake if that is a consistent call. I couldn’t see any head/neck contact of consequence myself. More a seatbelt throw. Needs to be discouraged though.

So, not read the thread yet
- Ben reffed bloody well
- Ben Young is even worse than Jamieson. The only thing he can do is kick, and fucking badly. How much attacking possession in the red zone did he waste? Really this lost then the game, young kicking away attacking ball. There are some far too old nines in NH rugby.
- A lot of England's tight five are hot heads. It needs to be a tactic of the opposition to wind them up. Easy penalties, not used enough by Scotland.
- Russell and hogg are good to watch.
- Did Itoje play?
-
Thought Scotland back 3 had the winning of the match with some great runs but sloppy passing and needless penalties kept England well in it. Marler's throw in was a critical error for me. England looked the better side in most of the close exchanges and could have ground it out I felt. Well reffed by BOK. His correct overrule of Berry lineout call at the end was critical.

Cato, you sound like us All Black fans after a loss.
I'd only argue against the PT on the slight possibility that the winger wouldn't have caught it.
Deliberate knock forward (see a knock up can be as illegal as a knock down ... ), and deliberately propelled into touch.
Take the offender out of the equation and the winger walks it in.
I feel your pain though.

Looool that's a terrible loss for England. In front at 65 minutes dominating every facet of the game against a Scottish team who had nothing in attack. And they lose.
Ben Youngs the biggest culprit, but he's not alone in that backline. Attacking opportunity after attacking opportunity kicked away with shitty grubbers or rubbish box kicks. The backline attack was lateral shuffle lateral shuffle kick. Just shit.
England forwards pretty good without really beating their opposition out of the game. But the England backs take the blame here, Eddie outsmarting himself again?
Poor game in terms of skill and execution but at least the end was fun.
Scotland win with grit and little else.

That's an Eddie thing that he actively encourages. When people have pointed out to him in the past that Itoje concentrates too much on being a dick instead of just playing the game he has said that he wants him to be like that.
FFS he selects that cock Farrell as captain. -

I just watched the Mini replay on Stan, so didn't get the full picture.
But several times the comms mentioned the "numberless" England backline, ie., they were interchangeable and I guess just a picking of the best players and squeezing them onto the paddock. That never works.

They traditionally lose with grit so that’s a step in the right direction at least.

Copper wire was invented by two Scotsmen fighting over a penny so the legend goes.
It is a bit of a harsh cliche though, Indians and Asians are much tighter with their money
But Scots are so miserable looking and ugly to go with it.

Well the Welsh are the only ones without a capital in the top ten, both Scottish main cities are there!
The UK’s most generous areas:

@machpants That just shows immigration rates and how many non-Scots live in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Cowan-Dickie is an idiot, first and foremost. Good play by Scotland to isolate him and either get the try or draw the error. Came to bite them when Marler's throw didn't go 5 - hardly his fault as the receiver apparently knew the lineout laws about as well as his starting hooker.
But is anyone surprised? Players at every level have less than a basic understanding of the Laws, on average, and it doesn't improve significantly.
Thought BOK had a decent game. No way was he calling a penalty at that last scrum to give England a shot at a draw/win. Can't blame him for that.
Marcus Smith is not the second coming as it turns out. The lateral hoppy-skippy handoff palaver might work at club level, but Scotland dinnae give a fuck for that. Just lined up their men and kept tackling.
It was a fairly even game I thought - mostly due to conditions. On a dry track, if England were just a bit less stupid around the field they had all the territory and possession they needed to win. Eddie Jones' "numberless backline" didn't really work as well as the England "bash the shit out of them" game which is what they should have done.
