This I mostly agree with.
I don't like the crowd behaviour as they were affecting play in some games. I'd be happy if there are more crowds and more enjoy tennis, I just think knocking on the side of boards and chanting/talking over players isn't on.
The Special K or whatever the cereal killers are called aren't directly responsible for crowds sledging their opponents. But mocking their opponents' serve-gamemanship, I just don't like it. In an earlier singles game, (against Medvedev I think?) he told an umpire to shut up and listen to him. At that point, I definitely thought he was a knob.

I love the special K show. The crowd is a zoo and yeah they whip them up. Fantastic. Should be more of it. Since when did we decide tennis had to be played in complete silence?
They are setting out to entertain, in a sport that is supposed to be entertaining. I'd be fine with it if it was a pair of Brits at Wimbledon, or yanks at the US Open too. Or at the Davis Cup (as it used to be played anyway). Tennis needs more heaving, hostile home crowds, not less.Aussie take.

Tomic is a genuine cnut. The difference between him and Kygios to me is off court, where Kyrgios comes across as a pretty good dude generally while Tomic lives on the Goldie, drives a orange lambo and just lurches from one fuck-up to the next.

Not sure how he feels about tennis these days but isn't a lot of Kygios's angst about not liking tennis much, but being so talented he'd be a fool to walk away? I've warmed to him although I'm nowhere near McEnroe reach arounds.

The crowd made it exciting. But you don't encourage them to carry on when the player is ready to serve, or between serves, and then pretend to lose your shit when the serve time limit clock runs out. The bogan crowd lapped that shit up. Contrast that with other great crowds, the Connors Krickstein crowd, Sampras vs Courier in Melbourne, or Rafter Ivanisevic in the Wimbledon final. That one was wild because the weather postponed the final to the Monday and they let the crowds in. Amazing atmosphere, but the players didn't act like total cocks

Took me a while to realise he's not wasting his talent, he's maximising it. Being really fucking good at tennis appears to be about 40% having the shots (which Nick has in spades) and 60% having the mental capacity to grind a tournament (which Nick does not have). Make coin entertaining folks.

I don't begrudge him for a second (unless he pulled this shit in a Davis Cup or with an unwilling doubles partner). And if I'm honest, if I had his talent, I reckon I'd be content to have a similar ranking - no way I'd put the required work in.
But I can't bring myself to actually like him when he pulls out of tournaments, disappointing fans, and blames everyone else for shit going wrong.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I don't follow tennis) but he doesn't do that much now he's matured somewhat? A mate's son went to school with him and told me nothing is surprising about NK because that was his personality growing up and he always hated being forced to practise tennis, it's just that he was really good at it.

Yep. There's a difference between pumping up the crowd and doing things like baulking on a serve. The match last night was terrific entertainment and didn't require one of the players to act like a complete dickhead. If you don't watch cricket unless there's a streaker then don't watch tennis if you need a clown to make it entertaining for you.
