Jumping Castle Tragedy

Horrible. Hate this.
Firstly, heard ABC report that winds at closest BOM site (Devonport Airport) were mild. <20kmh.
2ndly, would have thought this would be run by the owners of the Bouncy castle, rather than a teacher/parent. But if they take usual precautions how do they anticipate freak wind gusts?

Wasn't there a recent similar thing somewhere? Was it here or the States?

Hate this, but it reminds me of that awful Chris Lilley "comedy" 'Finding the Australian of the Year', where one of the nominees rescued kids from a bouncy castle incident. It was comedic because it was so improbable.

I saw this happen at a kids day at my rugby club years ago. No one on it at the time but a freak twister came out of nowhere and it took off. Never allowed my kids near one since.

Am I the only person to have heard of securing pegs?
Securing pegging usually costs me a few hundred dollars at least...
There are times I wish I could not consult Urban Dictionary to discover things I need not know!!! 🙄

So awful. We see reports of kids dying almost every day, cancer, car crashes, other stuff. But this hits really hard for some reason, the mental image of 10 and 11 yr old kids being flung from this thing to their deaths just kills me.
Yeah, it’s hard to even think about it.
And then the trauma that follows, with class mates and other kids witnessing it and living with those images and the experience for the rest of their lives.

Had a scarry incident a couple of years ago too at an event with a bouncy castle. Wind got up out of no where. Fortunately no one badly hurt, but enough to freak me out. Not allowed my kids on an outdoor one since.
My condolences to everyone in Tasmania. Terrible news.
