Missed Shreyas early on when we didn’t have a first slip for Southee. Might be the test.
Patel has a pretty handy first class record so is another potential spinning all rounder for them who might hang around…..so India have three and other countries have none.

I don't see too many terrors in the pitch at this stage. Tail enders are not being beaten by the ball often. Not too much sharp bounce for the likes of Wags. This could still be a draw if India has a lead over 250 and NZ does not go for it. If we get them for less and have 7 hours to chase then we have a shot. Will India declare at 270? Interesting next hour as all results still on the table.

Does anyone know why Saha is allowed to bat but didn't field all day and from the sounds of it won't be fielding again?
He came in after 5 wickets were lost so has served his penalty time for being off the field:

Blundell: “Oh yes Sommers”
What for? You get an ‘Oh yes’ these days for not doing much with the ball either in the air or off the pitch…

Tell the truth, you were dying for some BCCI conspiracy behind it

Better than getting a high 5 for missing a free throw...

I’m really, really surprised at how ineffective our spinners have been on the whole.
Really surprised.

Only for Shaq and DeAndre Jordan because if it’s a close miss they deserve one 😉

Back to back 50 run partnerships by the Indian lower order. Well played by them.

The lesson from this is we play Wags every day of the week and twice on Sundays, I don't give a shit what the pitch is doing, we just don't have a test class spinner. Playing a spinner over Wags minimised our strengths and maximised theirs, we're never going to beat them at their own game.
(he says with the benefit of hindsight)

284 to win. Kane and Ross, it’s on you.

Sod it. Now they err too far the other way with reviewing. Young and Latham take a couple of seconds too long to decide to review one going down leg...
Amateur hour. Amateur by the umpire to give that and amateur by our batsmen to take too long.

That was pretty weird, it was a very long discussion and they were acting like there was no time limit!
-
@act-crusader I can see why that was given in real time.

Replays show it missed by a mile. Shame Latham couldn't see it. Apparently the umpires are not neutral, or from the elite panel due to covid19 restrictions. There have certainly been a lot of inconsistent calls...
