What have we learned from tonight?

    1. Our tight 5 is not what it once was, but if we play direct we can still compete
    2. Loose forwards as currently constructed are too loose
    3. Without Aaron Smith we are lost
    4. RM is not a test 10 we can depend on. Yet. Maybe not even
    5. The Havili experiment is a fail
    6. Tupaea and Ioane could be a go in MF. Clint certainly looks like he has the hard edge we gave lacked and could be the 12 we need to pair with
    7. Jordan has one wing spot locked down, and Jordie had a very good tour. That leaves one wing spot up for grabs
    8. Foster doesn't have it

Fozzie has a 75% win percentage as head coach..

If you took out the tests against Tonga, Fiji, USA and Italy, It'd be a 62.5% win rate. So it's an inflated 75% win percentage as well.

Basically we can beat Australia. Against any other Tier 1 we are now 50%.

I think a full strength Australia side is a good bit better than when we played them.

Do you think NZ would win most of their tests at home? What we're seeing is NZ losing away matches. Losing away is quite common for most other teams, especially in front of large, vocal support.

Honestly, winning 85%+ over last 16/17 years has skewed things. Winning away used to be a great feat. Maybe you'll begin to treasure them again😉

It's a small sample size (5/8 or 62.5%) over two years but compared to NZ's record in the professional era pre-Fozzie as head (94/124 or 76%) we are still struggling.

Just imagine this place if NZ hadn't won back to back WCs in 2011 and 2015. Foster would need a security detail!

Security detail? I know just the guys to manage it.
Plumtree and McLeod could handle security and defence!

    Is Graham Henry available?
He's literally the one guy I think could turn this around by RWC'23.

I just want Razor to have a clean slate post that-France.

Be interesting to see what influence Schmidt has on the Blues defence next year. Might be the guy to bring in to get us playing a more modern and aggressive pattern.

ohhhh. forgot Schmidt was in-town. He'd certainly have an idea about how to build it, and how to break it down. Ireland though were cooked by the time he was finished, Andy Farrell has refreshed them.

Thank you Ian for another clueless fucking performance.
I can’t wait to lose 3 more games in 2022 and get knocked out in the WC QF.
All you Foster fans enjoy that BS more to come.

AB,s are an embarrassment under the clown coaching circus.

Yeah how can Foster survive the summer? That was a joke.

When was the last time an AB coach was fired?

Poor selections, poor game plans and no improvements after poor games.

    Why keep him?

    So you're saying it's Henry's fault?

    Fucking Deans strikes again.

it may surprise all on here but I am not a fan of our coaching tactics. But I don't think we should get personally nasty.
I still think our players are better than the way they played this season or the results, but we don't have the players of yore and the competition has got better. We just have to live with it and probably another poor 2 years.

The really frustrating thing is that in parts tonite - 40-60 mins - they were great. But once things started to go wrong, so many players seemed to fall apart and they weren't the newer players either.

Discipline when they have momentum with them is really fragile which makes me wonder if there's a team mentality issue.

My sense is that the players are mentally stale. Quite a few games. Being in bubble. Vibe of the set up. Players coming and going.

Trying to rouse themselves (which they did) when running on fumes.

Contrast the Boks who seem pretty focussed and hungry, still.

Difficult season with Covid restrictions but not a good reflection on management.

In those three losses we had 20 minutes against Boks, 20 minutes against Oirish and 30 minutes against Frogs where we were second rate.
That inconsistency is what is killing us.

Pick and go used to be a key strength of NZ forward play. Between 40 and 60 mins, NZ forwards used the pick and go to maximum effect.

The other observation I have is two-fold - applying pressure and penalties. The ABs are playing too much in the wrong part of the pitch. The tactical kicking game has been poor for a while. This doesn't apply pressure to the opposition. And when NZ do get down and play in the opposition third, they give away cheap penalties that again relieves pressure.

Ted was involved in the farcical Foster appointment. Really went down my estimation with that.

The good news this week is that ABs stepped up in minutes 40-60, whereas against Boks and Ireland they dominated ABs and scoring in this period.

    Does that show progress?
