@canes4life "Selon nos informations" is rather vague. That's just one of the media rumours. It is probably true, but as I said, it hasn't been confirmed by the club or player.

It will be interesting who will wear the 10 jersey most often in 2022: JGB or Love. Both are quite limited: JGB limited in talent and speed, and Love limited in SR experience and nous. JGB will likely be the Canes starter 1st. With Love on the bench covering 1st and FB. And JGB from memory is not a bad goal kicker
But it will make little difference. Holland seems to prefer recruiting mediocre players or older players rather than looking to recruit a potential future AB. It will ensure the Canes are never in the running for years to come to win anything regardless of how successful the goal kicker is.

@winger not sure if that will be the case, I think they are going backwards if they start JGB over Love. We all know Garden-Bachop isn’t the future so why would you select him over the man that is?
Doesn’t really matter, with Jordie in the team there’s only one man doing the kicking.

When PUJ and TUJ were at school you were touting them as storming onto the scene and quickly becoming superstars. Both good players still with potential to reach high levels (and maybe stay there this time) but haven't exactly set the world on fire
We saw a very brief flash of what could be from TUJ before injury and, as you say, PUJ's candle flared for a moment then he couldn't even make Super level as a must pick. You can blame the coach all you like but an awesome player will demand selection.Roigard. Yep, looked like he had some goods that could result in higher honours but hardly screaming out as 'one to watch'.
Flanders? I think Super may be his ceiling. He doesn't stand out as having any more than the plethora of (very talented) competition.
Ardie? I think you may find that it was @Higgins and I that were discussing him as 'better than Jules' when he was still at school.
Jordie? Glad you saw his potential from that family of unknown grafters.
We all see players that are worth keeping an eye on. Just saying that it doesn't always translate to 'star'. Those guys really do stand out. Love isn't one of them. He does look like he has skills and a good head on him which could carry him a long way though.
A good example of someone who really did trick everyone, including the ABs, is Fifita. Phenomenal at Club, did amazing things at Provincial, looked like he could bring them to Super, then went backwards. I have no idea what really happened there but it seemed that he struggled with the transitions and couldn't work out why what worked at one level couldnt work at another.

@crucial I remember touting both of them as being future stars of our game (super star is probably a little too far). They are both only 23 or something so they've got plenty of time to prove me right. It hasn't helped that TUJ has spent almost his whole career watching from the sidelines. Hopefully he can catch a break in 2022.
I think 2022 is also a make or break year for PUJ, he's carving up the metres in the NPC at the moment and will be keen to grab that 12 jersey for the Hurricanes. We are crying out for a bigger 12 at test level and I think one of the UJ brother's can stake claim to that jersey eventually if they produce the goods at Super.
You're 100%, at the end of the day it's crystal ball gazing, some players over achieve and others fail to reach the lofty heights that some of us expect.
I've been right plenty of times, but I've also been wrong on players aswell. That's just part and parcel of being a speculative fan.
I'm just glad my pay cheque doesn't rely on it.

a. I don't recall anyone saying awesome and
b. "awesome" is an awfully high selection criterion, even for the Canes.
c. PUJ played for the ABs and looked comfortable. It is not like NZ is crawling with good midfielders, let alone having players that "set the world on fire" (strange that international arson is now the selection criteria, I'd be happy for a stable midfield).

He’s a young guy who had a lot of potential when he came out of school then probably plateaued a little bit.
“He’s now learning what it is to work hard and be a little bit more professional off the park. The Hurricanes have done a great job in that space and what we saw when he got the opportunity is someone who is ready to go. That’s the kind of energy we want him to bring in here.”

@mikey07 Josiah Maraku should be on the Canes midfield radar unless MP (or the Blues) beat them to him. He trained all season in the Blues wtg and has looked quick and strong for Manawatu. Only 20 but plenty of promise.

@daffy-jaffy Unfortunately he’d be in same boat as Toala as in get only one game a year but yeah I’d definitely like to see him sign with the Canes
