De Allender passed the ball once for the match. Am passed the ball once for the match. Faf passed it half the number of times that TJP did.

Boks had 52% possession for the match.

How many times did they receive the ball?

So how can we prepare for next week via selections? Not that many choices. I imaginge Foster would face a bit of pressure if he picks Bridge to start again but he did keep him on the paddock a bit longer than I expected.

He's not my favourite player and he had a shocker especially in the area of expertise in which he was picked.

But I'd kind of back him to sort that and keep him there as the Bok tactics aren't changing.

He should have been dragged last night, not Jordan, but I can see him playing again next week.

Yes well he is obviously not my fave playe either, but um, would Reece's better ability to um score tries and get go forward outweigh his height differential and um also questionable high ball material? I don't know if there is that much aerial difference actually, the Bok wingers aren't Ardie-height.

What I do get upset about is when Foster said a game or two back that Bridge wasn't happy with his game and he maybe wasn't playing at 100%. Well if he is slightly injured don't play him, you muppet!*He ain't that good!

    Rant over.

    *You as in Foster.

Given the speed of his passing and the position of the Boks maybe TJP should have kicked it more?

Counting the number of times we gave it to them or waved them through when we were supposed to catch it?

I don't remember us trying to kick behind them. BB usually likes to try it on

Counter to that article I fail to see how we managed to capitalize on the yellow card at all. But I do agree they went forward, a lot. Offside not very well reffed...

It's ok we'll leave it to the bench 8 to try in the last 10-20 minutes!

@stargazer Well said. A win against the World Champs without 2 of our best players. Great result.

I would've said 5 of our best players, Whitelock, Smith, Mounga, Cane, ALB. I would be confident in saying that we're building good depth if this team learns and adjusts for next week.

I would add Coles and Jacobson (arguably the best Nr.8 in NZ) to your list.

@african-monkey we missed PSdT and Kolbey. Don't get better then them

We also missed RG. A big problem we have is that Lood, Eben & Sous have too many miles on the clock. And RG is a force in his own right.

But our biggest problem has been that Pollard is seriously undercooked. My working theory is that we would have won at least the 1st Aussie test and this game if Steyn had played instead.

The All Blacks forwards struggled in this test. Scrumming, line outs and breakdowns were a massive problem. Can Foster fix this in a week.

That might be partially ACTC's point.

Did the Springboks threaten the All Blacks line even once in the game? They never looked like scoring a try; the one they did score was given to them as a gift by George Bridge. Apart from the Romanian team of the seventies, I have never seen a team with such little ambition in terms of playing intentions.
Without Bridge's early blunder which gave them confidence, they would not have threatened to win this game, even with their forwards dominating most phases.
