@canes4life I would say that would be the 23, maybe a change if ALB is fit. Looks like a strong team to me.

Whitelock is no longer joining the squad until after The Rugby Championship as he couldn't get out of quarantine until the Tuesday before the 2nd test - too short of a turnaround for a tight forward.

Maybe they can do some sort of high ball catching competition to select the wings as Faf is going to be putting up bombs all night long.

After last night who is everyone picking as our best XV to take on S.A?

This is the team I think Fozzie will select from what we’ve seen so far. I haven’t picked Leinert-Brown due to not being match fit and also uncertain of the status of his injury.

    1. Moody
    2. Taylor
    3. Laulaula
    4. Rettalick
    5. Barrett
    6. Ioane
    7. Papali’i
    8. Savea (c)
    9. Perenara
    10. Barrett
    11. Bridge
    12. Havili
    13. Ioane
    14. Reece
    15. Barrett
    16. Taukei'aho
    17. Bower
    18. Tu’ungafasi
    19. Vaa’i
    20. Jacobson
    21. Weber
    22. McKenzie
    23. Jordan

I think ALB will be in, Bridge out of the 23, Ioane on the wing - touch wood. I won't comment on the props, I have no idea!

I think Jordan starts over Bridge but I worry about his poor positional sense on defence. ALB back at centre and Rieko on the left wing would be better.

Big Karl is also a good chance on the bench.

Hard to know exactly what South African team will front up ,

While the media are acting like the results against Australia are a shock , The reality is normality has resumed ,

They may have won the same amount of world cups as us , but outside that , have been a pretty hot and cold team in reality , I think they enjoy getting themselves up for a window like a World Cup but struggle maintaining consistency for extended periods

The team should largely go back to the selections vs Australia. The Argie selections were more about giving people a run/rest

The wings in the 3 Aus games were:

    Ioane/Reece
    Reece/Jordan
    Ioane/Jordan

It depends if Ioane is needed in the midfield. Reece/Jordan if Ioane is in 13. Ioane/Reece if ALB returns.

Jordan probably had his worst Test so I think he only features if Ioane is at 13. Even last night he still created a lot of issues for the opposition defence

The decline in Super, the rise of NH, and being able to pick players from Northern hemisphere helped too... The players who came back looked like stars, where previously they'd been off the pace

@chimoaus and they won’t win the game playing that game. The Boks looked awful and lacking creativity. Their forwards weren’t anything the ABs can’t handle. We will beat them with power and speed. Based on their performance against then Ozzies, appreciating the improvement Oz has made, they are crap.

I’m hoping to see a back 3 of Jordie, Reece and Ioane. With Beauden dropping back we have their kicking game covered and the firepower to attack.

I really can't see them benching Ioane after being probably the most dangerous back all season. Consistently performing to a very high level.

Otherwise I like it, but if people are worried about Blackadder, then Laulala shouldn't really be starting either....

    I hoped I'm proved wrong.

Yeah on Laulala too, but Ofa isn't fit yet and we don't have a good enough option to step in yet (Lomax might get there but one good game is not enough for me yet and I'm sure not for the selectors)

I’d have ST at 2. Laulala by default at 3 but that spot is still open imo. Whitelock if available. Savea at 7 and Jacobson at 8 I don’t yet have quite have as much love as some posters for Dalton. Mounga at 10, ALB at 13, Ioane at 11.

I reckon they will back experience in some of the decisions. I expect to see Taylor start at hooker.

    Who is midfield cover?

Karl T Lorax on the pine?

You mention ALB not being match fit: he's only missed a week hasn't he? (Or is it two) so "fitness" shouldn't be an issue But if his injury remains a problem I agree with the XV as I think both Jordan and Reece are right wingers and I'd pick them before Bridge if I could. Maybe Tupaea to 22 and Jordan starting if we can get Reece into 11 and Jordan to 14.

But I wouldn't lose a great deal of sleep if that is the XXIII.
