@nzzp Yeah my go to loaf is no knead and is consistently great. Cooked in a dutch oven

Yeah I use this as a "base" for making a couple of chilli cheese loaves every couple of weeks (double up on the recipe and use fresh/dry yeast as available - have also kept a jar of leftover jalapeno *juice" which I leave the sliced chillis in for a few hours).

    Easy Jalapeño Cheddar Bread

Delicious, easy baked artisan-style no knead bread with tons of jalapeño and cheddar flavor from simple ingredients and packed with flavor.

Fuck yeah London! Popped into the city to play...errr... netball and hoooooleeee fuck if it isn't jam packed with approximately a third of that jam being top quality oggle material. Most pleasant walk from London bridge to Liverpool Street ever.

    Hey gurl

    @bones sure counts as positivity.

Searching for my mojo today, another day in front of the computer isn't the most inspiring. Rationally it's great that I'm in work, and things are continuing, but goddamn my reptilian brain just wants what it can't have.

A trip out of the house.
    Takeaways.
    Holiday overseas.
    Live rugby.

Mentally hit the wall wat work yesterday, so took a half day off. Turns out there's a limit to how long I can sit at a desk staring at a screen without talking to people 🙂 So, treated myself and the rest of the family to a trip out of the house and a walk-in vaccination. Sore arm overnight, but otherwise good. Almost as good as a holiday.

Fingers crossed for takeaways next week, and live rugby this weekend (albeit on the screen). Still waiting for ScarJo, but not holding my breath at L4 eh 😛

Hope you are all well. I feel refreshed from having a change. Probably only lasts to the first issue of the day, but that's life eh. Look after yourselves.

It’s so cute that where @bones is concerned you assumed the species would be human. Rather than canine.

Feeling pretty good at the moment. Spent the last week in the Charente Maritime at my nephew’s house, so free accommodation. Weather on the whole pretty good, just one day that was a bit rainy. Most days 25-27c. Every day in the pool. Good company, good food and mainly good wine (brother-in-law does buy some shit). Drank a few Leffe Blondes too which is just great beer. A standout lunch of three courses for 18 euros and I swear I would have paid that for each course.

    Smoked leek salad.
Perfectly grilled steak with a dauphinoise of carrot and celery (yes, celery but by the cringe it was good).
Finished off with a cafe gourmand that had three perfect little pieces of patisserie.

    18 bloody euros! 😁

Well, it's goddamn Thursday. Been a tough few weeks, but live rugby this weekend. I can't wait.

In other news, got a delivery of fruit/vege today ... and there was the biggest kumara I've seen. The kids weighed it; 940g. That is some kumara!

And yes, nearly 5 weeks and Level 4 and we're laughing about a big root vegetable. No words.

Sure was, I can post a pic if people are really interested 🙂

Ah yeah. This one's been tough; lots of people tired and fractious, lots of hard work but less output (we seem less efficient remotely). Too much time at the desk.

But, this is the positivity thread, so I'm just going to close with the fact that I've got a bigger kumara than just about everyone here

They really are. For some reason the kids don't love them like we do ... but that's kids not appreciating excellence.

I would wear the hell out of T-shirt that said 'Rejoice the Kumara'

I like Toka Toka (gold variety). Less sweet.

    My knowledge of kumara
Modern kumara are nothing like those traditionally cultivated by Maori but are South American varietals
Maori trained gulls to keep caterpillar off the plants
They are not a sweet potato as they're not a potato
