Guess portion size is just irrelevant for a vax
Looks that way. Had a quick google and it does seem that everyone gets the same.
The interesting part being our reactions, surely that is size / weight related? Possibly different immune system responses but I would have thought that "size matters" - yes I know.
I don't think size matters with vaccines as they're just basically showing our bodies how to build antibodies.
My sister had no reaction from her two jabs, I had a mild reaction, a skinny friend of mine got knocked out for 17 hours from his second Pfizer and a large friend of mine was laid up for a day from AZ.

The MIQ system should be considered a scandal but gets no treatment at all from a compliant media.
Yep. Was the only real restriction to travel. Probably deliberately so but they could have had compassionate exemptions.
Fingers crossed for your Dad to get some time with your boy. Shitty times.

@snowy I believe that the only thing that changes with body size (arm fat) is the gauge or length of the needle used.
Thought that too, so asked our Jabber (old friend, known her for years) and apparently not. In NZ anyway. One needle for all. Maybe she hadn't come up against anybody fat enough yet...
Hadn't thought about the dosage previously.

That would make sense I suppose. There is no "loading" just the immune response. Interesting how different that can be though.

I remember reading/watching something. See link below.
Nice to know that we don't have any really fat people in the region although a visit to the supermarket might change some minds. Probably need some even bigger needles.

@kid-chocolate what a load of shit.
What exactly is shit about his/her rant?
Because if you follow the science as our illustrious leaders keep fucking yammering about, this is science fact not science fiction
This happens now, you get weighed, your doctor or nurse tells you to lose weight if you're fat. If you're type 2 diabetic, that happens every 3-6 months. They have dieticians and everything else available for free already. There's no need for public shaming, because there's plenty of private shaming instead.
That's without getting into the genetics of it, and that there are a stack of vulnerabilities besides obesity eg getting older/surviving cancer/being born with HIV/born with other conditions. Even if every fat bastard in the world got down to a decent BMI, and somehow had no other issues remaining from their time being fat, Covid would still cause major issues for a large enough part of the population to overrun health systems.

The experience over here where we are that much further down the vax rollout has been just as random. Doesn’t seem to matter which one you’re given, whether it’s first or second, BMI or anything.

Obviously private shaming isn't working.
The number of people claiming genetics is the problem/reason is proportional to the number of Rolex watches stolen
VASTLY EXAGERRATED

@mikethesnow and even if every fat bastard miraculously dropped to a healthy weight with no issues remaining from the obesity, Covid would still overrun health systems on all the other vulnerabilities.
AND THERE ARE A MILLION FUCKING STUDIES SAYING IT'S GENETICS.

So are you suggesting that nothing can be done because even if something could be done it wouldn’t matter?

I'm not swayed on this one way or the other given I haven't seen the comorbidity of admissions, but you'd think it would be a wakeup call for the population. Apparently not.

I tend to believe the laws of thermodynamics personally.

@JC is claiming it was a gift from @Bones . The Rolex, not the genetics.
It is interesting the different reactions people have. Would love to see how the saline vaccinated "reacted". A placebo control group of sorts (assuming it is true).

@bones said in Coronavirus - Overall:
@snowy define "gift"
He stole it but you left a note on the bedside table?
He stole it but there was a third person involved?
He stole it but there was goat involved? (not Richie or Dan)
He stole it but wrote the note himself? That could be the one.
Basically he stole it. Never trust an economist. Especially one that you have just shagged.

Here in Japan, things are getting a bit dodgy as hospitals in Tokyo are running out of beds (mostly for those who are not vaxxed, and probably had the chance) whole there was some tainted Moderna shots from which two people have died (so far). And, I saw something this morning that they are wondering whether Delta has changed...
-
@godder I'm going to give the genetics call a big fat nope.
While there is variability in peoples natural fat levels. Being obese at the rates in western society is not genetic and that is simply not debatable.
Obese people have resulted in 78% of hospitalizations in the USA according to one study.
