I actually have pre-game nerves! Don't usually have that with sevens!
Was more nervous for the SF.
We're guaranteed silver. I'm cool with that.
Just further to this, I think the prospect of finishing nowhere, as opposed to a guarantee of at least a silver medal and possibility of gold, was more frightening .

Link to Monye's comments. Prattish stuff since GB missed out of a medal. Good to see that the majority of respondents have unliked them.
What on earth is wrong with that? Apart from population being 5mm now.
Totally fair for me.
Because NZ and Fiji have always battled it out at the top of the tree in 7's, since fucken day dot.
Because why would 15's success translate to 7's success.
Because why would success in the World Series (the clue being series) translate to a one off tournament (where the game of 7's is even more prone to fluctuations in form).
Because why the fuck is silver not a success (and for a bit of whataboutery, population of GB is 66m).
Blimey your skin is thin.

@majorrage Fiji winning Olympic Gold is hardly a surprise for anyone who follows 7s. NZ not really the force in 7s they once were. 15s and 7s increasingly different games. A Silver by this squad was a very good result in an increasingly competitive sport.
No kidding. Monye just asking if nz be disappointed. I think that’s fair.
Question relating to why not translating us reaching a bit but hardly worth getting upset about.

There was also a stat that the AB 7s have lost 9 finals in a row to Fiji - so why would he think we would suddenly beat them in a final in the biggest tournament in 4 years?

The Springboks are the current 15s world champs so why did their 7s team get knocked out in the quarter finals? People in RSA must be disappointed

I’d imagine they are. What’s your point?

The girls are on a mission
"never want to feel like that again"
Love that chat.Great thing about the women's competition is that it's legitimately the best women's rugby players in the world competing.
As opposed to the Men's competition which is predominately populated by journeymen lol -

@frye I think you are being grossly unfair there. Have you watched at all? The passing skills and the defensive covering agility are phenomenal. The 15s guys are more powerful but I think our 7s guys are world class
In comparison to other 7s players they are. But in XVs they hardly look like world beaters. For some reason our 7s programme doesn't appear to be unearthing the Cullens and Lomus etc it used to do.
