Lots of Frizzel comments and I agree but Pat T as well. Too many chances, been part of some poor AB losses. The guy has serious mana but we need to move on and get Vaai (sp?) or even Robinson in there. Someone who is all elbows and shoulders.

I'm a big Pat T fan and he deserves huge credit for his leadership at the Blues, but it really hasn't translated at Test level. He's had a couple of great games in Black where he's stepped up the plate, but he's too inconsistent and makes too many errors.

Doesn't need to be flash, just solid and he seems to lack a bit of the latter

His best moments in black have always been off the bench and no that role he’s played some important roles in late victories and really asserted himself physically including against big Bok and English packs. That may still be the best use of him at this level

I guess I'm a bit disappointed that he hasn't grown into more that a impact player off the bench.

“I’m pretty pleased really,” Foster said afterwards. “They offered a pretty stern challenge.

    LOL, garbage coach.

“We said at the start of the week they’ve got lot of players who are pretty experienced, particularly from overseas clubs, who have come together.

“They showed they are great athletes and obviously had moments in that game where they put us under quite a bit of pressure.

“But overall pleased with the way we came through that. It highlighted a few areas we're obviously going to have to tidy up a little bit, but I guess the composure to come back and win by nine tries against a team that chucked everything at us was pretty pleasing.”

FFS, we lost the collision for large periods of the game, and as fucking usual for the last 5 years we relied on going wide quickly.

@chris These clowns are in their second year and are talking about "good learnings from being tested up front". They should have revised their game plan and selections to not be "tested up front" by fucking Fiji!

God damn these idiots talk up Frizzell every season, when even a blind man can tell he is so far off test level. Morons.

Yeah it’s a mess under these muppetts
The RC could be carnage if we play like this, passive as.
Unheard of to talk like that 10 years ago.
It would have been considered a loss to put out that sort of performance we saw today.

@chris Send out an SOS to Wayne Smith, get Robertson as his main assistant, and Ryan or Coventry as forwards coach.

Our tight five were pretty damn impotent for 50 odd minutes, makes it hard to guage the rest.

Blackadder was fucking everywhere, it was awesome, but didn't exactly have much of an impact a fair bit of the time - how different would that be with a functioning tight five?

Frizzel was anonymous, Sotutu often ineffective, even Smith seemed to disappear into the mehther.

I really don't see what Bridge is doing that pretty much any other back (or a lot of forwards) can't do. Good timing hitting the line to throw a pass.... unless there's a defender near and then the movement dies with you. If that's what we want from our left wing then Havili is a million times better option.

You answered the question on Blackadder .
A better tight five performance would have made his influence massive.

@chris yep, I'd give Frizzel and Sotutu another chance, but I can't see them being anything other than handy to have in case of injury now. Plenty of time for Sotutu though.

Was a pretty dumb idea to start an extremely rusty Retallick alongside Tuipulotu who's never imposed himself when starting... then you had Laulala who was maybe going to steady up one side of a scrum and zero else.

Throw in one of those as a change in last week's team and I can't see them having as poor a game as today. I don't think anything was learned today, good training run.

Looks like another really poor crowd. This can not be a good sign for NZ rugby

A North Vs South series would have been more interesting for the punters than these games.

In retrospect I think people underestimated Fiji

I think posters on here are still underestimating them. All we get is how badly ABs played, and not how well Fiji played. I thought they were pretty ok, and ABs won by 34 points, so either I am wrong and Fiji were poor or ABs played ok, not great but ok.

    Nice hands by All Blacks.

WTF is the ref saying "through the middle"? He's climbing over the top of the maul ffs.

    I've just remember it's Williams

I don't want to ruin this thread by complaining about the ref, but he shouldn't have a professional fixture.

Not getting into specifics (coz I can't remember them), and agree with @antipodean about not making it a ref rant, but definitely got the opinion I was disagreeing with too many of his calls.

    Out muscled by Fiji FFS

You expect their backs to run in a few on flair and brilliance, but not their pack to do the business.

    Stereotypically yes.

Look at the size and shape of these fullas and remember they're all playing pro rugby in forward dominated leagues oop norf. They're going to be pretty decent forwards.

    Rubbish cleanout from Hoskins.

    Didn't have a great game.

In fact our loosies were very quiet.

Have great hope for Blackadder, but 6 & 8 didn't do much for us.

Jacobsen went ok when he came on.

AB's loose forwards aren't working as a trio at all. Even individually they don't look up to it.

    Obviously great minds

Not many carrying meters from the forwards

Sotutu with 13 & Tuipulotu with 8 are the best. Really low compared to normal

Thinking about this I think we were partialy victims of our own success in attack. We didn't have to set up long periods on attack as we'd score worth our strike moves as soon as we were offered a chance.

On top of that we'd make half breaks and isolate from our support allowing Fiji to attack the breakdown (Not always legally).

    Good game so far.

Those Fijian's are big boys and are playing some rally good rugby.

Might need a change of game plan at half time and commit a few more to the ruck as we're struggling to clear the ball quick enough. The backs will do the business as long as they can get quick ball.

Calm and logical posting? This is TSF man
