@steven-harris Glenn Taylor?
Looks like he was in 2002:

I think you should just try to enjoy the game for what it is & get behind your boys. I like to stay positive. I'm sure Hurricanes will be competitive and test the Blues. All of the NZ squads are strong and can upset anyone on their day. I believe Hurricanes will beat the Chiefs & Highlanders on their return-run to finish either 3rd or 4th overall on the final standings.

@kiwi_expat I want the Canes to be challenging for titles year in and year out and I’ve also been a fan for too long just to be content with their selections at the moment. If you’re happy with your team cruising along winning a game every so often and not making the playoffs then that’s on you.
Also isn’t that what this forums about, discussing the selections and looking for areas where teams can improve?
I’m not saying we can’t win on Saturday with the players that have been selected, in fact I think we have a very good chance. It’s just that the selections being made atm are making it very difficult for us to get the result, when it could be a hell of a lot easier if we picked the right cattle.

@kiwi_expat is Mike Proctor and I claim my bag of chips

Must win game for the Blues otherwise their season is in serious danger of falling apart.
Feel like this could be a close one with the Canes coming off a win and the Blues coming off 2 losses. Not sure who to pick in this one.

Amen to that @Canes4life

“I’ve just made 3 changes and picked the same average players that played poorly the first 3 games of the season, naturally we won last week and I don’t like that so I’m going to bring them back that’s how we are going to play the Blues”

15 Stephen Perofeta, 14 Mark Telea, 13 Rieko Ioane, 12 TJ Faiane, 11 Caleb Clarke, 10 Otere Black, 9 Sam Nock; 8 Hoskins Sotutu, 7 Dalton Papalii, 6 Tom Robinson (c), 5 Sam Darry, 4 Gerard Cowley-Tuioti, 3 Ofa Tuungafasi, 2 Luteru Tolai, 1 Karl Tu’inukuafe.
Thought Christie was good on Saturday. Is he rotated or dropped?

@pakman I wasn't impressed. Don't rate him. Ruru offers more off the bench with his running game and defence.
Fair enough. I agree he either starts or out. For me Ruru a mix of good and bad. Quite robust, but passing blunts back line. Suits him being played off bench. Maybe poor man’s TKB?

I'd say the reason for Blackwell being continually selected is because he's a key leader in the group, he's a senior player, he was the Hurricanes player of the season in 2019, was pretty outstanding in Super Rugby Aotearoa last year too. Also isn't he the Wellington Lions captain?
Outstanding last year? You’ve got to be kidding.
The guy has never looked remotely Super rugby level. He is fit, no doubt. But having watched him closely during games i have never seen someone with such an ability to be near the play and actually contribute fuck all in terms of positive impact.
When he carries he makes zero metres consistently . When he takes a lineout he often fires it at the feet of the 9 without looking, causing them to knock it on.
For every one of his no look passes that gets caught by a team mate about 5 go to ground. He makes Brad shields look good when it comes to handling. One thing he is a master at is the whole “simulated” rugby thing like you see on the training pitch and get taught from the under 10s.
Standing with your hands out looking ready to catch the ball near a ruck, even though you are in a shit position and not going to get passed the ball. Getting in the way of your own ball carrier and therefore being first to the breakdown yet having no impact as a cleaner because you were busy getting out of the way.
Arriving late at a defensive ruck and putting your hand up and then pointing at someone in the attacking line as if that is your man, even though none of your team mates are paying any attention to your defensive positioning. And lets not forget the useless little jump in the air with arms up even though the opposition player taking the lineout ball is 2m above you.Im convinced this stuff is why he is getting selected constantly. He looks like he is doing lots of stuff. The GPS data probably looks good too. But in reality he makes very little positive contribution at best. At worst he is a liability.

Ffs, Blackwell returns
I thought we were rid of this waste of space. So Canes had a good win and they change a winning team around with worse players. The coaches are clueless.
The Hurricanes won lots of games last season with those same players, including beating the Crusaders in Christchurch. Scrafton & Blackwell were two players who contributed hugely towards that win. I think you could show them (and the coaches) a little more respect.
I should show the players more respect agreed as they front up and play their best when selected. As Blackwell certainly does his best week after week
The coaches are this year 1 from 4. The won last week and have now dropped a player to the reserves who played well last
week (IWL). I just find it odd and frustrating. Maybe Im wrong though and the Canes win this week. I'm sure the coaches or players don't give a toss what I think. And it isn't only these coaches that rate Blackwell (Plumtree also did) And the only player I don't like is Blackwell (I can see the logic with Prinsep and Proctor). But nothing wrong with his attitude that's for sureMy view is rugby coaches need to explain whats going on with the team better. Like where is Fifita.
