The GOAT

If anyone else follows Table Tennis, Ma Long is probably the GOAT

@Chris-B The thing I hated most about that Bradbury was that it just had to be a fucking Australian!!! 2002 was right in the epicentre of their sporting purple patch. Rugby cricket netball swimming and even the socceroos were doing pretty well. And man did they not shut up about it.
And then lo and behold they were god damn handed a medal at the winter olympics!!!

Anyway, this just in from the US: The top 10 GOATs.
1 Tom Brady
2 Michael Jordan
3 Michael Phelps
4 Tiger Woods
5 Muhammad Ali
6 LeBron James
7 Wilt Chamberlain
8 Babe Ruth
9 Willie Mays
10 Joe MontanaMentions to Chris Chelios, Mark Spitz, Carl Lewis, Alex Rodriguez, Joe Namath, Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Michael Chang, John Cena, Jeremy Lin and a medicine cabinet on two wheels.
Also, get the fuck out with Wilt, I've debunked that myth already, he's not even top 5 in the NBA GOAT conversation
Wilt was the GOAT off the court.
That may have been mentioned

@voodoo the talent around Russell was very good as well - Havlicek, Cousy, Sam and KC Jones, Heinsohn, Sharman.
the talent around Brady has been pretty impressive as well - not least Bill Belichek.
This is a great thread, by the way.
I'm also voting against Usain Bolt (and any track/field, or cycling to be fair), as PED are just too likely.

I came here to post basically this to earlier suggestions of Bolt, but you beat me to it. Absolutely spot on unfortunately (and I am a huge athletics fan).
The golden era of Jamaican sprinting 2008-2017 coincided perfectly with them having a basically non functional national anti doping body.

Unproven doping (even if highly likely) shouldn't rule out anyone. I assume the Americans leagues have higher levels of doping than international sports, so for Jordan, Brady etc. I would be more surprised if they were completely clean.
Baseball had a real problem a few years back if I recall.

Yeah @Dice, I’ve already made the jokes about that. Try and keep up.

The worst time to be a NZ sports fan in the past 50 years. Probably ever.
I still distinctly recall a Bledisloe post on here of the tenor, "We've won 8 of the last 11".
Well, who's counting now, motherfucker!
It's karma and it's not yet worn out - though it might be with Fozzie!

Great white hype...

meh. That home run chase was awesome viewing.

I couldn't understand why people got so upset about it. Baseball is synonymous with cheating.
