Hurricanes 2021

@canefan I think Parker could have done well in SR, but he was stuck behind Slade and then Sopoaga at the Highlanders, and he missed all but one game of the 2015 season and the latter part of the 2016 season due to injury. He's been a bit unlucky, but if you remember his 2019 (or was it 2018?) season for the Sunwolves, most of us on the Fern thought he should get a contract in NZ again because he'd be better than some of the (then) current 10s.
I’d argue he probably still is better then the two at the Canes

Anyone know if the Canes vs Blues vs Chiefs pre season game is going to be televised anywhere? You would think Sky would cover the game considering they have f all viewing options these days.
-
@Canes4life You really have to read other threads

Is the game of the periods that are not halves on sky?
Still nothing in Sky's online tv guide.

Doesn't mean it is not being shown tho, just that the Sky Guide is often a hundred years behind what is actually happening
-
@Canes4life Yeah it said it was apparently with details TBC...
Edit:actually it’s not on Sky Online guide yet so maybe not
-
@Stargazer I was seeing more if anyone had an update. Usually they do a stream somewhere if it’s not televised. The Brumbies vs Force was on YouTube last night so maybe on there...

@Machpants I didn't say it is not being shown. We just don't have any indication (yet) that it will be shown.
Let's hope they will. I don't think I'll be able to make it to Upper Hutt and report back to the Fern.
I’m going so I could possibly do it...
-
@Stargazer haha I was just about to post the same thing. Please not Blackwell or Prinsep.
I think they will hand the reigns to Ardie Savea.

That's awesome, but should us Chiefs fans really be throwing stones at this stage ... although we are leading into a Gats free campaign so things might be alright.

@Yeetyaah yeah he’s a good leader of men and most likely makes that starting side so I wouldn’t be upset if it was Kirifi.
It won’t be Coles as Aumua is probably now pressing for that starting jersey and Coles is getting on.
Other choice would have been Perenara but he is obviously in Japan.
I just feel ASav is the most likely choice as he’s probably the most experienced player we have apart from Coles and he seems to have the respect of everyone around him.
That might be too logical for the Canes coaches though so it will most likely be Simon Hickey.

It could be Coles for this year (if he wants it) with Perenara back next year. But if not him either Savea or Kirifi
Maybe co-captains. Coles and whoever they see as a long term option. Then Perenara and this option in the future
-
ASav is the new captain.

I had to look up Ofa Tauatevalu. He's a Manawatu loosie, who's played three years for Gisborne Boys 1st XV and was a Poverty Bay development player before joining the Turbos Academy (I think in 2020). He played for Hurricanes U20s, last year, too.
He might be our longhaired mystery player?
Oh, and Kapeli is indeed in the squad!
