I'm still not happy with the backline but I hope DMac has a blinder and brings the form he found for Waikato before going into camp.
Also means that if either BB or RM aren't available (which is quite possible given the campaign coming up) we have more form options.
DMac and JB has worked before, now let's hope we get some late Clarke action that forces the decision on the left. But that is "the worst form of his life" to quote the thread.

Coaches are always reluctant to make too many positional changes because of one withdrawal. Reece to the right wing would have been the obvious choice.
And DMac to the bench/ALB out? Need a 10 replacement somewhere
You need midfield cover so ALB has to be in the 23. Not even Foster would risk having to use TJP or JB as a backup 1st 5. This is where utilities become important to cover multiple positions as you don't want a completely rearranged backline (e.g., moving JB into 2nd 5 means someone else has to switch to the opposite wing or fullback).

With Beaudie out, Ioane becomes our most experienced back from 10-15
Mo’unga - 17 tests
Bridge - 9 tests
Goodhue - 13 tests
Ioane - 29 tests
Jordie - 17 tests
DMac - 23 tests -

What I'm saying is that DMac had to come in somewhere to be the backup 10.
He's either a straight swap or you shuffle.
At this late stage a straight swap makes more sense
Yeah although I don’t like the selection, I understand it ,
if he is the number 3 - 10 , he has to be in there somewhere , it’s just a shame it couldn’t have been the bench somehow

Simple Aussie game plan - hurt Mo’unga
Who goes to 10 if Richie Mo'unga goes down in the second minute? DMac, TJP or Jordie. None fill me with confidence as Test First Fives.
Yeah, Josh Ioane....

I’m surprised that they don’t seem to see Jordie as second playmaker - really they’ve got three out there. It’s a strange replacement .
But according to some he's a 12, not a 10 (or a 14 or 15)
And some simply wrote him off as a 19 year old.

The flakiest player in NZ who shouldn't be anywhere near the 46 gets a start lol.
Who is that? Jordie?
Mud sticks for sure. Jordie is so far ahead of DMac right now it's not even funny, especially when it comes to the attributes you want at test level. But I'm sure every single little mistake he makes will be poured over as proof he's unreliable.

DMac
The thought of that would give me nightmares

Please differentiate. Kinda insert either of those two names here.

Yeah, that could have been applied to DMac even in the year he was tearing it up in test rugby. JB hasn't had that year in test rugby yet but hopefully he can build on his Super form and have it this year.
-
@No-Quarter I don’t think it’s fair to judge Jordie properly until he’s in his rightful position.
It’s a shame Foster is a tugboat. I mean what he’s shown with these selections is that Super Rugby form means f all. You can’t go and say Jordie is the best fullback in NZ three times in a midweek press conference and then not give him the opportunity when it arises. Such a plonker.

Just listening to Fozzie and he says about Jordie...'No doubt he was the form 15 this year, that's why he's on the field'
But he's not playing 15 you twit!No doubt Jordie will be given a go at 12 or 13 at some stage...

@Frank said in Bledisloe One: Wellington, October 11:
Why not Will Jordan at 14 and Jordie Barrett at 15??
D Mac can be on the bench (at best)If they'd brought Jordan in, there wouldn't be any 10 cover. McKenzie had to come in but shoulda been on the bench with Clarke promoted. And on that, given Bridge can play fullback, he should be able to play on either wing.

Can't drop a guy out of the 23 out of choice.
