Hurricanes v Chiefs

@ploughboy maybe so, however you can’t ignore poor coaching and I think that’s probably been the biggest problem.
-
@Canes4life ok if we had signed some hawkes players for our injurys we would have won some games?
-
@Canes4life i never said that,

No. Clearly it's the wings. Oh and the coaching. And not signing players. If only they had players the calibre of Goosen and Van Wyk.

Three Magpies! None in the starting lineup, but still ... 3!
So Chiefs to run away with it in the last 20?
-
@ploughboy maybe picking better squad players may have helped prepare the starters better, so yes picking those HB players over guys like Thomson may have helped, who bloody knows. What we do know is that Gatland is the laughing stock of NZ rugby atm and is odds on of not winning a game in this tournament.
-
@Canes4life DMAc has done nothing of the sort this season. He’s just played poorly. He’s made bad decisions, execution has been very bad. His goal kicking the only bright point. It’s the worst I’ve ever seen him play and I’m not a huge fan, but he’s played at a high level and that has had nothing to do with those around him.

ok

@ACT-Crusader you don’t think a part of that form is down to his poor combination with his wingers? It was mentioned a few times in the game thread last weekend that McKenzie looks like he isn’t trusting his teammates. Maybe it’s true, the fact he is so erratic this year might be down to that trust in those around him, mixed in with poor coaching or him just trying too hard coming back from his injury / trying to create opportunities that some of his teammates fail to.
-
@Canes4life Dmac has always been erratic. Headless chook. Or whatever you want to call it. Nothing to do with the players around him. He's just worse than previous years, because he's making mistakes like in @ACT-Crusader 's post. It's sad he's not been able to come back to pre-injury form; maybe he needs a good Mitre 10 Cup season to do that.

I'm curious if TTT has been playing club rugby in Rotorua recently.
I thought he must be injured. When he has come on it was a big improvement on Weber.
Absolutely. Weber has been terrible this season with erratic passing and poor kicking. We're not even seeing him run, which is his biggest strength.
TTT was returning from injury about a month ago. I have no idea since then. Milo-Harris didn't take his opportunity last week either.
-
@Stargazer yeah but atleast he’s been able to connect with those around him when being that so called headless chook in the past. Atm it looks like no one knows what they are doing. Is it down to poor coaching or players not connecting properly? Who knows. All I know is the Chiefs won’t be winning shit until they start playing as a team.

part of problem for chiefs injury's in tight five, be interesting for other teams to lose this type of depth.
gone with out playing moli, harris, coxon alladice, macwhanell, ardron
injured missed games ross,o'neill, taavao ah kuoi
plus BBBRIt’s pretty funny how often not having BBBR is brought up as a reason the Chiefs have no wins in this comp.
You don’t see Highlanders fans blaming losses on not having Ben Smith in the team or Crusaders fans saying Read is missing or even Canes fans blaming poor performances on BB fucking off.
BBBR was never in the team this year so stop using it as an excuse. As for injuries, the Chiefs always seem to have a shit load of injuries. Maybe they are causing it themselves through their training or conditioning.
-
It is also all well and good to say your back 3 isn’t the reason you are losing. But with the margins in some of the games this year, if the back 3 was better and created/ finished off a few more scoring opportunities then the win:loss ratio could look a lot different.
Will be interesting to see how Naholo goes. Im not sure Alaimalo, Stevenson or Wainui are ever going to be much more than solid.

I seem to recall some on here mentioning Alaimalo as a future AB possibly after last years NPC. Not to make it last year but for the future. I don’t mind his game and he’s got some wheels, but he would have a few works on.

@Bones lol what has Wainui done all season apart from look mediocre? McKenzie is trying to make up for what Wainui lacks in attacking ability and it's hurting his All Black chances.
Maybe it's just poor coaching that's holding Wainui and Stevenson back, but it's a worry. The Chiefs have totally lost their deadly attacking flair that they were renowned for during their title run and the few years afterwards.
Gotta agree with @Bones here, chief - the the Canes' wingers are nothing more than the South African versions of George Bridge

BBBR wasnt meant as a excuse more along the lines of on top of all theses injuries . my point was how would other teams coped with this injury toll.

@Bones if you’re on an 8 game losing streak and you keep selecting the same players expecting a different result then you’re dreaming. Rugby 101 bro, your wingers are your finishers. The Chiefs have produced plenty of pill this year to get the job done, I guess let’s blame the props and locks for not putting points on the board because I forgot it’s their job to do so.
The forwards determine who wins the game.
The backs determine the margin.Back to Wainui. He's been very good for the Chiefs this year.
