Hurricanes v Chiefs

@KiwiMurph No. I think only the guys who've signed with French clubs have left NZ.
-

Interestingly Fidow gets dropped for Rakete Stones. I thought Fidow has been impressive off the bench, I don't think RS provides that same impact. Also IWL makes way for Le'aupepe. The fact that IWL has been out of favour lately makes me think he's on the move next year.

@Nepia They still have to get off that bench ..
I'm hoping they don't so I don't get mixed emotions.
-
@Nepia You're missing May, he's starting.
-
@Canes4life Not sure IWL has been dropped. He withdrew from the Crusaders game with an injury, so maybe he hasn't recovered yet.
Edited to add that PRS adds more power to the scrum than Fidow. Having watched the Chiefs' scrum crumble against the Crusaders, that may be what they're targeting. Just guessing, of course.
-
Ben May is 'Naki man now.

Not missed at all.
-
Good to see Kane Le'aupepe recover from injury.
-
@Stargazer yeah that might be true.
-
@Number-10 missed this one, he gets around haha.
-
Who’s that guy in 23 Lowe is it? Is he new 😂😂😂
-
Chiefs: Damian McKenzie, Shaun Stevenson, Anton Lienert-Brown, Alex Nankivell, Sean Wainui, Kaleb Trask, Brad Weber, Pita Gus Sowakula, Sam Cane (c), Luke Jacobson, Mitchell Brown, Naitoa Ah Kuoi, Nepo Laulala, Samisoni Taukei’aho, Ollie Norris.
Reserves: Bradley Slater, Rob Cobb, Angus Ta’avao, Tupou Vaa’i, Mitchell Karpik, Lisati Milo-Harris, Quinn Tupaea, Kini Naholo. -
Looking forward to seeing him play again. As I have no provincial bias I reckon he might be better than Paps.
-
Not surprised to see Boshier dropped.
-
Naholo and Cobb to potentially debut from the bench. Chiefs fans need a song for Kini.
-
If we win this, all off-season I will be saying "we could have won the damn thing if Jacobsen wasn't injured..."

As a chiefs fan it is definitely the best time to be shooting your mouth off - when you're not playing.
I know this to be true from experience as a Blues supporter.

Strange unless Fidows injured. As he has done well. But it will be good to see how RS goes. (Im still not convinced about him yet. But hes still young)
Both Fifita and IWL were out last game. This just seems a bit odd that both locks were injured just before kick off (so maybe it wasn't an injury issue). But good to see Leaupepe back.
Also keen to see how Aso goes at 2nd 5 (with PUJ outside him). It might be his best position. Hes got a good skill set rather than smashing through like Laumape . Surprised that Toala mises out in the reserves again
Both Fifita and IWL are missing

I'm curious if TTT has been playing club rugby in Rotorua recently.
-
@Tim I get so much confidence seeing Stevenson and Wainui on the opposition team sheet. So do the Chiefs not have any depth in the outsides to call on?
What happened to Nanai-Seturo?
-
Wainui is a fine player. Probably the most underrated winger in the country.
-
How many minutes will Jacobson last before going off injured again?

I thought he must be injured. When he has come on it was a big improvement on Weber. Maybe he told the coach he was an idiot

i would take Wainui over either of the two Hurricanes wingers playing this week.

This should be put on a plaque on a wall somewhere as an example of the most hurricanes post ever.
-
@Crucial he was injured for a bit but someone said he was coming out of it as he was playing club rugby. Seemed fine when I saw him at Chartwell last week having a munch. Maybe I should have asked him but I'd feel like a dick bothering players in public
-
@mariner4life I’m the opposite I’d take the Canes wingers over Wainui any day.

Canes onto a couple of reject Saffas getting confidence at watching them come up against guys with ACTUAL ACHIEVEMENTS.
Chiefs fan: "I get so much confidence seeing Jackson Garden-Bachop on the opposition team sheet".
-
@Bones lol what has Wainui done all season apart from look mediocre? McKenzie is trying to make up for what Wainui lacks in attacking ability and it's hurting his All Black chances.
Maybe it's just poor coaching that's holding Wainui and Stevenson back, but it's a worry. The Chiefs have totally lost their deadly attacking flair that they were renowned for during their title run and the few years afterwards.

He's not looked mediocre, that's what he's done. Let's just see how much the Chiefs wingers get dominated by their clearly superior opposites then eh?
Canes better watch out for Trask though!
