Crusaders v Hurricanes

@ACT-Crusader LOL, great crowd tonight there. Did they break 1000 in Sydney?
-
Just reflecting on how good Mo'unga is. What a freak. He's singlehandedly responsible for winning against the Blues, and damn near dragging the Saders over the line tonight. Massive contributions right through the season.
Also, Jeremy Thrush and Kahui for the Force? Cool

Lots of injuries before kick off. (Or was it something else)
The Hurricanes were dealt a triple-blow before the match even started, with tighthead prop Tyrel Lomax and reserve forwards Isaia Walker-Leawere and Vaea Fifita all being scratched through injury.
To make matters worse, loosehead Fraser Armstrong only lasted 16 minutes before he needed replacing.

Jordie has been so fucking good this year. Has really come of age, he's world class now.
In hindsight we definitely kept the best Barrett.
He is Often maligned but I still think he is a work in progress rather than a finished product , has the tools to make a good test fullback Imo, that goal kicking could be a weapon on its own.

It always feels great to win a game when the other team is better than you. You saw those scrums in the first half and every time it was penalty. It's hard to see you winning a game when that happens. That win took a lot of heart.
Jordie was MotM. It's funny how a lot of commentators say mindless shit like to beat the Crusaders you have to go for tries and not kick goals. I think that just makes it easy for the other team. Jordie has to be a lock for All Blacks fullback now. He's a fantastic player. Aumua and Umaga-Jensen were the other standouts for me.

Hah yeah, Marshall was definitely at his shit talking best.
What a cracking game! Fucken good, hard fought win canes. Forwards really stepped up... including May, Blackwell, Prinsep. Defence top notch.
How shit is JGB. Reckon he had no say in all that momentum the canes were finding eh, bring back Smith! Aumua and that abrasive play could really wear some teams down before unleashing a fresh Coles/Taylor...
Perenara so much better when he keeps his cool, PUJ playing like Rob Thomson used to, Jordie absolute class and Ardie just work work work.
Mounga was excellent and I thought Hall was too. Goodhue was cake as...guess that'll happen to a lot of players when out of position.
Strange ya egg.

Sorry, missed being live for most of the 2nd half because dinner (roast beef) and have just watched the rest if the recording.
First thoughts:
- Jordie has shown he is is No.1 15
- PUJ announced himself
- Aumua starting to re-live up to his hype (yay... Am fanboi)
- Pleased the Canes won: keeps the comp alive
- Reece looked on the verge of creating mayhem without actually doing so
- Ref was ordinary
- TJ is not a captain and needs to keep taking his calming meds
- Canes' coaches must be doing something right coz they're a rather mediocre looking bunch of individuals who are creating good results
More thunks when I think of them.

Goodhue has 4 missed tackles, 4 made, one penalty, and a try assist in that half. Very much a mixed bag.
Laumape has 20 metres off 5 runs, 3 tackles made, 2 missed. Solid but defense remains an issue.
Got monstered by Ardie early too

@Siam said in Crusaders v Hurricanes:
Does the not straight feed into the scrum, law no longer exist?
I get cranky about halfbacks following the ball at the scrum.
In my day hb was allowed to follow the ball as long as they they stayed:
- Behind the ball
- Behind the opposition hb
- Within a metre of the scrum
I am thinking these laws are either obsolete or are not being policed.

@taniwharugby said in Crusaders v Hurricanes:
dont get that, tackle called, he rips it and ref says ok?
Timing. Ref realised he called it after the rip
