Too many of the same old faces in the Canes coaching staff. We really need a complete cleanout. Dan Cron has been there for far too long, Cory Jane needs to leave the environment to get a different perspective on coaching, Jason Holland is an assistant coach at best and I think the CEO needs to show some leadership. Has anyone heard from him this year?
I believe we have the makings of a strong pack but I still think the core of that group is still a year or so from hitting their stride i.e. Fidow, Walker-Leawere, Aumua, Lomax, Numia, Rakete-Stones etc.
If we can get Otere Black back, keep Jordie, entice that 2m 120kg SA lock to finally come over, and stop making pathetic selection decisions (case in point with Blackwell at lock and Prinsep even starting), then we have the bones of a quality team when you run through the spine.
Alot happens in a year, or even a month. Just ask Blues fans.

Surely Aride comes in at 8. Who plays 6 - Evans or Prinsep?
I know Prinsep isn't popular on TSF but he got through more work than Evans who was really ineffective last week
Canes really need a VG lineout option at 6 if they have Kirifi at 7 and Savea at 8. The best by far of the alternatives is Fifita. But hes lacks discipline. But thats who I would play if they go for the Savea Kirifi option. A last chance to see if he can maintain his discipline . Another alternative is Savea at 7, Evans at 8 and Fifita at 6. Evans and Savea could alternate. An alternative is Flanders at 6 and Fifita and Scrafton starting at lock
There are a number of possibilities but none include Blackwell or Prinsep

He is still contracted to the Blues next year

This has been minimum 2 years in the making. The results are just the outcome of lots of hard work behind the scenes.
It's really weird; there's a strong relationship between the front office and the on field quality. It shouldn't make sense, but it does.

I don't even rate him as an assistant coach. He was the Canes attack coach and the attack slowly went back after he was appointed (even though we won in his first year from memory. But the year before was the better side and ended up as the top finisher but then played like crap in the final). Barrett's game esp went to the pack at first after he arrived
Why they appointed him head coach as they did is beyond me. It should have been a temporary appointment for 1 year only and then the job advertised when the year was finished

Beauden has made the Canes look a lot better than they are the last few years. Losing him really, really hurts.
That said, looking forward to the match and hoping we can give the cheats from down south a run for their money. Would like to see us throw it around a bit and try to throw caution to the wind, as we sure as shit are not going to be able to grind them down. Just not sure we have the backline to do it anymore.
Oh and TJP just needs to shut the fuck up and play. Seriously, he's one of the more gifted halfbacks I've ever seen but just does not seem to be able to control his emotions.

IWL should start at lock.

Its an option. But the Canes were poor in the line-out against the Blues and Fifita is a VG lineout option. So I would start him at either 6 or lock

Depends if Jordie starts or not. He seems to have leadership qualities that without him the team lacks. Although Aso is good but it needs someone to take the game by the horns. Jordie on form does this.

@mariner4life After Sunday’s performance some of us are not very confident and would rather bury our heads in the sand and hope it goes away 😂
