RWC: All Blacks v Italy (Cancelled) (Pool B)

According to the Norwegians, it's going to be a pretty shit day in Toyota, but is it going to be dangerous or unplayable?
85mm is a decent dousing, but we have something like that several days every year at my place.
Strong breeze!

@Chris-B Now that it is a bit closer to the time the forecasting will get better too.
I said that they should leave it until the day, typhoons can die or move, and it isn't exact science.
So if they have it correct:
You don't stop rugby games because of rain unless the pitch becomes a pool and dangerous.
12m/s is 24 knots FFS. That is a zephyr for Wellington. -
...and if everything goes as scheduled the Scotland Japan game should be fine.

Not if there is significant damage to the stadium, infrastructure etc.

If the stadium, infrastructure, can't withstand 60kts nobody should be going.
Japan have earthquakes and typhoons, they generally build accordingly.@Chris-B How good are these Norwegians with their forecasting?

They're usually pretty good to spot on in my experience - they've got some sort of global/macro weather model and lots of places I've been around the world, news sites just draw their weather forecasts from this base.

You would have to laugh if that happen.
I would just doff my cap and say "Well played, sporting Gods, well played"
-
@Snowy I really like this Norwegian one, because you can enter most named features on a topo map and get a forecast specific to that point.
If you're doing a tramp, you can often get forecasts for three or four points along the route to see how the weather is likely to evolve as you go.
Combine it with the Metservice's rain radar and you get a pretty good picture of what's likely to happen.

From Daily Telegraph
In a development that seems sure to cloud the rest of the tournament and have ramifications way into the future, insiders claim that the match between the All Blacks and Italy could have been postponed until Monday, but that the All Blacks were not willing to consider a turnaround of just five days between their final pool game and their quarter-final, which is due to be played on Saturday 19th October.
As expected WR have proven the British press and Brian Moore are once again full of shit . Unfortunately a decent amount of β neutrals β will carry on believing what Moore etc said despite any amount of evidence to the contrary .

Of course they would...they do what NZR say!!
World Rugby has refuted reports that the All Blacks turned down the chance to play their final Rugby World Cup pool match against Italy on Monday.

To be fair, heβs usually quite balanced. His sources lack credibility since the world rugby statement but I doubt he would have pulled this from his arse.
This smells like somebody (his source?) proposed it, NZ said not a fan and then works rugby said no that wouldnβt work anyway.
Pretty easy to create a biased slant either way from that.
