@ACT-Crusader Only that Perenara is backup 10. Jordie playing 10 doesn't bother me. Back up 10 not being a true 10 seems weird to me.

Wow! That is a selection and a half! Really strong and really weird at the same time. 3 halfbacks!!!

I really like the team. Good strong forward pack should give Jordie some time to not have to rush things.

The call between TJP and Crotty on the bench to cover 1st 5 was probably the only unanswered question for me.

Not really for me. As has been stated and what was coming out of the camp when they didn’t select Ioane as a 3rd 10, it was really a case of TJP or Crotty as the back-up to the back-up (ie Jordie).

    @ACT-Crusader

I assume it is because TJP is probably a better goal kicker.

Jordie, TJ, and Bender are the kickers I assume, in that order or perhaps Bender ahead of TJ.

    Jordie

    Played 80 minutes today.

Didn't think this would matter, and it hasn't. He was always the most likely guy to start a game at 10 who wasn't called Beauden or Richie.

And unless there are injuries is unlikely to play against Italy.

With Whitelock probably not playing 80 who will the captain be when he departs?
    Ben Smith?

Cane, I would think, with a reshuffle in the loosies?

Whitelock might be planning to do 80 though as it seems unlikely that BBBR will.

Or Frizzell goes to lock and they both get a spell. It looks to me like Frizzell is the sacrificial lamb in this 31.

In my opinion that's our strongest backline, sans 'dual playmakers'. I like the ALB / Goodhue midfield.

They need to play Jordie at 10 for the full 80.

No they really don't. Just enough to share minutes.
would you want Jordie, or Josh Ioane (because he would get the call up) to play in a knock out game?
Josh would be outside his Super Rugby halfback, Jordie is the million miles per hour man. He's a loose goose.

@gt12 Its Namibia. Who cares (about goal kicking that is) its not going to be close enough for it to matter. I'd give it to TJ to be honest. If the unthinkable happened, hes likely to be there in the knock-outs over Bender.

Have to disagree on current form @shark, Goodhue was injured for a while and his performance against Canada was sub-par.

Based on current form, it has to be one of the following combinations (ranked in my own personal opinion order):

    1. SBW and ALB with Crotty on the bench
    2. Crotty and ALB with SBW on the bench

ALB is THE form midfielder and has become the glue and first midfielder chosen and it will be opposition dependant as to who he partners with, SBW for an England/SA/Ireland, Crotty the others. This unfortunately, this leaves Goodhue left-right-out.

But, he does have this match to improve on his performance against Canada but I'm thinking the ALB, SBW and Crotty trio have the positions well sewed up leading into the knockout phase of the Cup.

Get his reps, get through injury free, and it will be a successful game

Nice JB gets to ease in to a new role safe in the knowledge that he has the world's best midfielder on his shoulder to carry him through

Wonder if I can get odds on number of charge downs?

I was about to say it’s a bit early to be drinking yet but we’re 3 hours behind you at the moment.

Exactly. They set him a new challenge and he didn't have the cojones to step up.
