RWC: All Blacks v Namibia (Pool B)
-
Hansen and Foster showed their hand in the Canada game regarding the rotation of the props. Ta'avao, Laulala and Tu'ungafasi all shared limited time at TH while Moli played the whole 80 mins at LH. That suggests to me that Laulala will sit this game out and Moody comes back in. Likely Angus and Joe to start and be replaced by Ofa and Atu.

Jordie
Played 80 minutes today.
But will at most be on the bench vs Italy so I could see it. Tough ask though. Crazy that the ABs'
a) Only have 2 specialists in one of the key positions in the game
b) Then play them both at the same time, meaning really we only have ONE plus cover
c) Then play them the full 80 in a minnows gameThe team announced (when? genuine question for once) for Namibia is going to be really interesting!
It's only Namibia ffs
Mrs Barrett could play 10
-
Sort of thinking about this, i saw Crotty step in to first receiver a couple of times last night. And, given how feeble his wide pass looked, i hope he's not the option.
I am loath to give the selectors any grief at all, but it looks like a massive oversight taking 2 10s when one of them doubles as your first choice fullback.
-
My guess at the team v Namibia is:
Props: Laulala, Moody, Ofa, Angus (who starts largely irrelevant, Atu Moli getting a break)
Hookers: Coles & Coltman
Locks: Whitelock, inclined to say Tuipulotu, Retallick (off the bench)
Loosies: Cane, Ardie, Frizzell (I could see SBarrett named as 6 cover, but probably Todd)
9: Smith w Weber off the bench.
10: Mounga
M/F: Crotty & ALB
Wings & 15: Bridge, Reece, Smith.Jordie on bench, maybe Goodhue also for game time.
Beauden, Read definitely getting a rest. SBW probably so he doesn't break.
-
@westcoastie Both Mo'unga and Barrett played 80 minutes yesterday, so both need the rest. I think it makes more sense to start one of them, with the other on the bench and let them each play about 30 minutes, and then let Jordie (or Crotty/TJP) play the last 20 minutes at 10.
-
It's Namibia. A prop could play 10. The entire 80 minutes will be no injuries and getting a run.
And possibly let's drop the ball less.

Is it at the same stadium?

As that, but Brodie will start and play 40 minutes. BB, Richie and Jordie played 80 minutes against Canada, I suspect we'll see either TJP or Ryan Crotty at 12 against Canada.

BB was totally knackered in the end of the game vs Canada. It's not often that he gets caught when put in space with a lead of several meters. He must get a rest in order to avoid an injury.
He ran like 190m with ball in hand or something - clearly just getting through a ton of work.

Pffft that's only like one Hennie Muller isn't it?

Not even ehoa.
By my calcs a HM using the tryline (Not the side line) is 384m.

Yeah it's been so long I've forgotten. Diagonally from corner to corner and across the tryline?

Yeah.
Add 60m if you do the diagonal and touchlines ...

Can backs really not back up with 4 days rest? They're only backs it's not like they get their shirts dirty. I see no reason why any of them would need a rest other than not wanting to risk a freak injury.

Listening to the AB video, Beaudy said they've got two days training before the next match. Sounds like the coaches want to get as much work done as possible leaving little in the tank for the game.
-
I've probably missed a lot but has Hanson mentioned any potential 3rd string #10 other than TJP and Jordie?
Surely Mo'unga and Beady will be mostly rested for this next one.
I'd like to see Jordie there and TJP on the bench to replace him at half time with Beaudy on the bench as a hopefully unneeded insurance.
