As a collective we have a strong proven record of not having a fucking clue what we are talking about.

Always wondered how many Ferners work for the English media.

Ardie’s far more effective on the side of the scrum. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him and Cane basically playing left and right.

    Particularly in defensive situations,

What will be interesting, is if ardie packs into the back at all, on our ball.

Surely you can’t just do it when you want him to run the ball , because that would be telegraphing it, interested to see how if at all they vary it, or are we reading to much into it?

@kiwiinmelb or can just be used as a decoy...

Ardie is still a good defender, just the tackles are not as 'effective' as others, and then it negates his ability on the turnover, so ideally you want Cane to hit the man, Ardie 2nd man in to attack the ball if on.

Do the All Blacks ever run the ball from Number 8 from a scrum?

It would seem a criminal waste of space to me.

Ardie at faux 8, running some scrum ball, during the warm-ups/friendlies/TRC/Bled - I might be OK with as a giant decoy for the bigger picture later on, to hold defences closer in - when in actual fact we have no intention of going down the fatty-Vunipola type channels.

I'm OK with a big unit doing some pick and goes, and rumbling up some messy ruck ball. But not from beautiful sweet, sweet set piece scrums.

To be Franks, I believe once we’re at the Coles face, the Moody sentiment will wane.

They prefer to have an elaborate backline setup, then have the 11 perform a slow hit up somewhere between the opposition 10 and 12.

    Works every time.

Video of James O'Connor playing in Europe. He has as many different hairdo's as he has different numbers on his back.

90secs in and if that's the footage that Chieka relied on, he should be put in a home.

Reado did this last year (year before?) big run off the back, sucked in teh defender and HB and threw an offload to ??Goodue??. Was a thing o fbeauty.

The thing for me is that you have to keep defences guessing. If you never run, they'll set for it. If you always run, they set for it. Keep 'em guessing and making decisions

Yeah I already read about it on the front page of the Times, Stephen Jones was praising the ABs for their choices...

    Hopefully a taster.

Could do with this game not going down to the wire and Argie doing an overhead pass to Ioane to win the game.
I have to travel to the airport with about 20 to go.

@Crucial I guess all of us remember where we were for that game. The emotional rollercoaster was immense.

In the cold light of day though, jeez our defence to let them back in was a black mark.

    But, a win's a win

@Siam Yep, our offence was good that day...

IIRC that one and the next one in Wellington were crackers, with the better team having the least points in both games.

I was living in UK at the time, not sure why we hadnt gone into a pub to watch that one?

Yep. Had to switch the TV off for a few minutes when Aus drew level. Otherwise I probably would have inserted my boot into it.

Imagine this team with that type of lead after 6 minutes. Shut the gate.

Geez I know it was only a friendly but the Argentina game really wasn't that long ago. Notable for laughable occasions with Ardie breaking off the back of the scrum so effectively there was initially no defenders in sight.

I think I vaguely recall that, was it planned? Or running from scrappy under pressure scrum?
