2020 All Blacks Squad

Haven’t really read the thread but you can stick Ennor in there for sure. A lot of talk about Jordan but I reckon Ennor has been the rookie back of the season. Oozes class.

@Yeetyaah that one game where he started at 12 this year he looked rock solid and alot more natural in being that extra playmaker. His love of physicality suits him being in that position aswell. He's obviously unproven because he hasn't been given much of a chance there to show his prowess.
Apart from his passing which was ropey.

Good news!
There are two Japanese seasons next year Jan-Mayish and then the standard one that runs August-December - I assume he is only playing the first one then returning for the mid-year tests.
Likely captain.
If he plays this entire contract out without a major injury (which to be fair would be unheard of for a lock of his age/miles) he will break all of McCaw's playing records surely.

Listening to RS at present talking about BBBR & BB future.
Looking like BBBR will re-sign with NZR but will take a year out to play in Japan next year, meaning he wont play for the ABs in 2020.
BB apparently will just have a non-playing sabbatical clause.
I have zero issues with NZR doing this for these guys (inc SW)

So what you're saying is that BBBR will TAYOTPIJ, while BB apparently will just have a NPSC. Got it!

Just ten All Blacks still unsigned for 2020:
Brodie Retallick:
Jack Goodhue:
Beauden Barrett:
Jordie Barrett:
Sonny Bill Williams:
Kane Hames:
Shannon Frizell:
Waisake Naholo:
Matt Todd:
Luke RomanoThe first four are a concern. The rest would not worry me either way. They're players that either (by 2020) will be being replaced by up and coming options or have never really reached a suitable level anyway.
I'm not saying they shouldn't be signed, but how many games do you think the bottom six would get from 2020 if available?
-
@Chester-Draws I think Frizzell will get a lot.
-
@Yeetyaah I think someone on here has some contact with Romano and says he's not keen on playing overseas and planning on moving into coaching. Could easily be after this season since he's 33 now. Now that Whitelock is skipping next year's Super rugby, I'd like to see Romano sign on for one more season. I don't think he should be out of contention for the ABs RWC squad this time around - I still have question marks over big Patty, including after last Saturday.
Kane Hames' concussion is looking like a serious worry for him ever playing again.

I think Williams... will head offshore.
It would be pretty ironic if after all his code jumping and going to the highest bidder at the peak of his powers that now after getting married and having kids he wants to settle down but the NZRU is basically like... we reckon you are done at test level we can give you the Crockett/Romano deal but that's about it.

He better start to deliver pretty fast then, because there's a few equally promising players on the rise.
I don't think he will, because he's the wrong sort of player to develop late. He's an athlete, fair enough, but the late bloomers at six have been ones who were physically hard and took time to harden up (like Kaino) or came late to the position (like Messam).
Frizzel reminds me of Blowers, who was spent by the age Frizzel is now. Or Jamie Joseph, similarly gone by 25.
