And Brad Thorn & Michael Jones.
Don't forget Keven Mealamu and pretty much every player with a Pacific Island background. Seems Folau is just not a good person.
They're all religious, but are they also virulently anti-gay? I think a distinction needs to be made there, i.e. being religious doesn't automatically mean you share the same demented views as Folau. The Catholics for example would riot if they tried to ban alcohol and there are plenty of religious people who support gay rights.

@Machpants it'll play right into his hands (more those of his agent) as he seeks a return to league.
Don't think the NRL wants him.
The NRL would fuck it's own mum and sell the video if they could make money or column inches out of it

Nah, they pretty much said no to Folau last year. The NRL has always taken a strong stance against homophobia since Ian Roberts came out (while still playing the game) in the 1990s.

I kinda don't get it. I couldn't give two shits where Folau thinks I'm going after I die.
Me neither, it's a public service when these sorts of people identify themselves as bigots. Not comfortable with restricting free speech at all, even stupid drivel like this.

That's probably because you're not a vulnerable young (PI) boy/girl from a Christian family, who sees Folau as a role model, and struggles with his/her sexual orientation or gender identity (and/or with coming out of the closet).

He made similar comments 12 months ago and didn't retract them so what difference does it make now? Tbh I think young PI kids in that situation have more important things to worry about than what Folau says.

have to assume Maria shares similar views as him, has she aired these?

Certainly has.

I'm not, no. However if Joe Karam had come out and said something similar when I was younger I would have thought the same thing.

Folau's social media posts are clearly in breech of Rugby Australia and World Rugby's codes of conduct.
Are they clearly? While we can clearly extrapolate his beliefs I'm not sure they in themselves are prima facie a breach of any reasonable code of conduct.

I grew up while Michael Jones was a top All Black, I did not feel like a sinner for playing rugby on Sundays.
edit: This is obviously a facetious statement but I think we do minorities of all types (including young homosexuals) by trying to ostracize our society into a place where there is absolutely no ignorant or prejudiced opinions. They should not be welcomed or celebrated, but trying to run every person out of town who has an opinion that is one standard deviation outside the mainstream.
I think you also do minorities a disservice thinking that they can't tolerate someone holding (misguided) opinions and values they may not share.

I was just waiting for a post like this

Israel needs to get his own act together....
Jesus said, I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
....so repent, you overpaid fucker - and give me all your money to save yourself.
