Rodda barely dropped his shoulder so that was a extra layer of bullshit from the ref.
WTF? Is that an actual excuse being trotted out? Some one needs to point me to where in the laws that excuses a no arms tackle (called a shoulder charge when SBW does it). There's no way that should have got Farrell 'off the hook".

@sparky yeah but who is going to take them on and do any better? Isn't the normal deal with a poison chalice that you don't actually know it poisoned ahead of time!!?
I certainly don't think he's made the most of his cattle, and that recent f-up in dropping Adam Two-Dads and Beale is another of many managerial blights on his record. But I'm unsure if any other Australia home-grown contender would have done any better.
Reckon they should just give Larkham the reins and see what happens. Poor bastard, as I quite like him.

@kruse Dunno about a link, I saw it on my recording of the match. She baited Hooper about the Farrell tackle, asking if he felt it should have been a penalty try and he deadpanned it saying it was a good tough game and the she tried to bait him on it a couple more times. He coped pretty well seeing as he’d just come off from losing a test match. She was just a bitch.
Cheers - just watched the link @booboo posted... it was a weird one.
She was obviously doing what every interviewer does nowadays - and he was obviously trying to avoid the entire question/issue... probably because he couldn't/shouldn't answer honestly? He should probably be giving Cheika some lessons on that.
I didn't think she was that much of a bitch, especially compared to every reporter (albeit - I consider journalists/media as absolute scum of the earth), other than the "is that sarcasm", and even that - pretty much just pointing out that he had completely avoided the question posed... and probably the most honest question I've ever heard asked in a post-match interview. With that in mind - agreed, shouldn't be pushing for that kind of shit in the on-field questions.
Not too sure if I can flip-flop any more on that, but I'll have a night's rest, and see if I can have a go. -

Not as bad as I thought it might be, but he was reasknably gracious and she wasn't.
"Is that sarcasm?" FFS.
I had recorded the game so watched this bit after the comments here..
She tried to get a comment out of Farrell as well, who just gave an answer to another (unasked) question instead and she didn’t push. When Hooper did the same she kept going.
I suspect she has a producer in her ear telling her to keep going as this is common from whoever does the post game shit over here. Just trying to draw out a headline. -

Cheika himself replaced McKenzie after the latters sudden resignation less than 1 year before the 2015 RWC. That worked out well enough in the short-term (making the RWC final). Perhaps RA thinks history can repeat itself.
In reality I expect some assistants like Grey to be discarded.

Hooper isn't having much luck with these female interviewers. The women that interviewed him after the Wales game couldn't even remember his first name. IIRC that might have been Sky not the BBC.

Peyper said to Hooper while the PK was lining up, words to the effect of: "well I thought your ball carrier dropped his shoulder too, so I ruled play on"
that's retarded. Peyper has pretty much gone full retard after once being a decent ref.

Jake White might look a good option, but do Australia have the players to play "Jake Ball", especially with only a year to learn it?

What's to learn?
I'm sure someone else pointed out recently Chieka's resume is pretty good. I'd suggest the real issue isn't him, it's his assistants who have showed nothing regarding competency at SR level and the hopeless structures from the ARU down. Which results in the cattle he has to work with.
As the Tahs showed, merely winning isn't enough - they have to be entertaining.

a halfback and a 10 that can kick is a good start. Can't see either in Australia at the moment.

@paekakboyz What defence?
-
@paekakboyz I haven't watched it again but I thought he looked like he was steaming when walking off. Kept stopping and looking back?

Peyper said it to Hooper. Caught on his mic.
Edit
Peyper to Hooper
"I thought your ball carrier also dropped the shoulder"So fucking what Peyper?

Are now surmising there is some kind of Peyper-gate, where Eddie's team is being favoured (shock emoje) ahead of the WC?

To be fair a quick read of the article mentions Stuart Barnes and Sir Clive both went on record to say Owen was damn lucky. Not quite as strong as the 'All Blacks shamelessly cynical' narrative
Jesus Christ. That's like a broken clock being right 4 times a day

Still be twice. Those two in the same room for long enough would have their cycles in sync.
