2 weeks in a row getting drop goals after being awarded a penalty in a kickable position. Really don’t get that.
Thought AB defense was outstanding. Unfortunately, Irish was phenomenal. This Irish team is either truly something, or we have turned truly average this year. I think it’s the former.
I’ve never rated Kearney and always thought him shit. So he obviously had a blinder.

I saw enough in that game that on another day Ireland would have been well beaten.
It also looked like the All Blacks were deliberately slowing their own ball down at rucks, not just because Aaron Smith was vacillating or slow. This is what gave the Irish defence time to readjust and number up. Had the All Blacks been in position slightly quicker and our halfback had the right person to pass to, I'd say Ireland's much vaunted defence would have been in trouble.
Given how flat they looked, I'm even more pissed that a bunch of tourists are now capped All Blacks against Japan.

Yeah, doubling our chance of getting 3 and eliminating our chance of getting 7. If our goal kicker was confident of nailing the penalty would he do that?

It makes sense though as you double your chance of making it as you still have penalty advantage. I like it as it also prevents the opposition getting a rest behind the sticks

Re the dropped goals - I wonder if it is a conscious decision to give Barrett practice doing them in a game situation. He misses, we get the ball back, no great loss apart from the opportunity for a free attack. We whinge we he doesn't do one at the end of the game to win it, but if the guy hasn't got the experience in a game situation he is not going to be confident when the game is on the line.

Yes this was a huge moment.
This is a perfect example of an issue I see with the current halfback situation.
If you want a situation when play at a break neck speed in the last 20-30 minutes then I don't see Perenara as the guy to play that role. He simply doesn't have the passing skills to deliver consistently. He's by far the 3rd best distributor of the current halfbacks yet he is the guy who is tasked with coming on in the last 20-30 minutes to up the tempo. He makes too many errors for that role to me. He doesn't also have the coolest of heads - last week he nearly blew the game.
I believe the ABs would be far better off either starting Perenara at 9 and bringing Smith off the bench (like they did v the Wallabies in Japan) or bringing TTT into the 23.

@hooroo Not really as you can take the 3 anyway, yes 2 bites at the cherry if you don't have the confidence that you could kick the penalty.
Oh and your own players get a rest while the kick is being taken too.
I can't back this up but I would bet the AB's are the fittest team and they usually appear to try and play the opposition at high tempo exhausting footy. I think it plays into their hands more keeping the opposition on the hop

The last two games we have played have been un All Black like. I think I am playing into the powder dry theory. I'm happy to be blissfully ignorant too....

@kiwimurph again, I think both our 9s are guilty of watching the ref and flapping thier arms about trying to attract a penalty, I recall both players were doing this at least 1 time each, and then the Irish picked and ran at them, in both instances both players took a longer moment to respond than they should had they been watching the play.
Winds me up.
I think the powder dry thing is one way of looking at it, but is more so that if they get whatever they are trying to achieve correct, then maybe it is a new style others wont have had a chance to build a good defence for yet?

I really don’t get this post at all.
IT's quite easy to interpret.
He doesn't think we are keeping our powder dry and even saying so is a very English thing to do, so please go have some action, because we were well beaten, learn from mistakes or please go away.
Does that make it easier
