@stargazer well the comment was, but TBH I think if I was Fifita, I'd be a bit frustrated at how that panned out.

He probably would, as he wouldn't quite get the nuance that Fifita needs to play more 6 to be considered there. Hemopo and Barrett don't.

Fifita is not suited to playing anywhere in the forwards given his attitude towards putting in the hard yards. I'm very comfortable with him never making the ABs again unless he has a dramatic change in attitude. He's the polar opposite of BBBR.

@majorrage shit sorry I'd better put the whisky down.

Pretty sure Mick was mocking as usual. That seems rather far fetched.

... the opportunity to perfect their synchronised chirping at the referee every second time he picks on them - first Hoopla! who has his whinge and almost invariably just gives the ref a vacant stare after hearing his rebuff; followed by Bono, who may well believe he ought to be Captain, whining about the opposition.

Last night I overheard him say "I disagree with that!" to Peyper and something else, Jaco (appearing astonished and puzzled) said "But he's retired" (my lip reading), and Bono retorted "That doesn't mean McCaw didn't cheat right in front of you and you let him get away with it! What makes him so special?"

It happened quickly, near the edge of the screen - you may have missed it.

    Surely that’s not true.

FARK, if so, McCaw is visiting psychological wounds from beyond the playing grave. The legend continues 🙂

Watching a replay , at the time I was frustrated during that first half ,

But watching again , our defence was sound , the handling errors were a result of us trying to up the tempo against an aggressive defence,

With the benefit of hindsight it paid off in the end

It must have been disheartening for the Orcs. They played an excellent first half and still we ran over them at the end of the 80 minutes. The contest was basically over by the 65th minute

If that was tough , the thought of going to eden park without Folau will have them struggling for positives

This may be a blessing for the Wallabies. Folau has a couple of very good strengths, taking the high ball in particular, but he is very average IMO at some of the more fundamental skills of rugby. Struggles to draw and pass, runs sideways, inconsistent kicking game for a fullback.

And not at all suited to the post match knees-up on K Road.

I think the Aussies have to stick with Pocock/Hooper. It gives them something different. Ireland struggled to deal with it big time. They have two locks in their team, no reason they should be losing so much set piece ball. They didn't really play badly last night. Just conceded too many penalties. We win games without ball and field position so when you give it to us, you lose by 25.

Its a problem when your blindside cant jump let alone win lineout ball either. Only two options isn't good enough at international level.

It was pretty funny when the wobs kicked off long all night, then as soon as Folau is off, they try a short one.

I was even picking Tui as a lineout option. Which would give them 3 targets. If Tui is not an option NZ can send up 4 jumpers v their 2. The number of jackals you win isn't worth that amount of lineout lost.

You can take the options out by just throwing to the front every time. Sure it is telegraphed but you should still win 80% of your ball that way.

@hydro11 @booboo The Aussie lineout has been a problem for a couple of years they don't know who to pick at 6, 7 & 8 which is screwing up their options at the lineout.

Am I wrong but it seems to me that Goodhue was the man who replaced Ryan Crotty as second five eight while ALB was playing centre ? From his Saturday's performance, I am inclined to think that Goodhue could be the best choice at 12. I would love to see a midfield combo of : 12 - Goodhue and 13 - Rieko Ioane.

Arnold is in the touring party so maybe Cheika does a shuffle at lock?

I don't rate Hooper as a traditional no.7 but he isn't about to be dropped.

@rocky-rockbottom I think with only 4 Aussies hanging around for Whitelock just sums up the relationship between the two sides. They don't have beer in the sheds together but the ABs and the Boks do

Totally agree with you ACT, I was thinking exactly the same. When you compare his game to Ben Smith its not even close in terms of who can make the right decisions and link up with team-mates. he takes some bringing down but if you are up to the task he becomes quite ineffective. I think his best position would be wing.
