@no-quarter Yeah - you can't run up the field juggling the ball and not expect to be tackled.

TJ's got no case at all in asking for a penalty.

Canes get the best possible outcome in a defensive scrum.

@no-quarter said in Hurricanes v Reds:

I think the ref is getting confused. Once Umaga-Jensen touches the ball he's fair game to be tackled while trying to regather.

By the laws today that should have been a penalty and a card.

Although how can you card a player who was trying but denied the opportunity to catch the ball due to the opposition player. That would have been unduly harsh.

I think O'Keefe got it right in the end.

TJP talked the ref out of the YC and into looking at the replay. Well done him.

Because he knocked the ball up and not down. Knock it up, you can regather. Knock it down, you can't. That alone makes the it worth thinking about,

Yeah Umaga-Jensen lucky not to be penalised. But no more than that.

Savea on for PU-J. Maybe now they'll play Jordie at 12, with NMS going to fullback?

All the tackling just took its toll on the Reds. Nice short pass and Lousi in untouched.

Canes will score 50 I reckon

Letting in that try might have been a good idea to reset the penalty count (for a YC) after some dodgy Hurricanes play there. Keeps all 15 players on. JBarrett needs to think about his tackling. A couple of no arm hits I've seen.

If the Hurricanes played like this against any NZ team (apart from the Blues of course) they'd get dicked.

See my previous post, I agree a card is harsh. But that's how it's been ruled this year and the ref initially went to his pocket before TJP pulled the wool over his eyes.

Once again the Canes put the win away but very far from perfect which seems to be the story of our season.

That was awful and embarrassing, two thirds Territory and possession, won by four points. The inaccuracy problems, tj was right, disappointing

    Still it's a win

Canes a bit like the Crusaders last week.

Can't afford to be too far off your game against anyone.
