Yep, can't really argue with any of those. all deserved.
IMO though (and it is a 'fans award'), although I loved the Woodman try, the one that made me really cheer and get excited by the sheer audacity and skill was Tony Pulu's finish off the DMac, Lowe, Messam interchanges. That was one to watch over and over.I think that try that had me cheering the most was the Blues' winner against the Lions. Ridiculous skill.

Interesting seeing comments out this morning how the Black Ferns are not a curtain raiser, they are the main event...
Question is, would they regularly sell Eden Park out if they were the main event?

What do you mean "he wasn't"? But he was World Rugby player of the year, surely that makes him automatically NZ rugby player of the year too?

But what is up with World Rugby? They usually get these things right - I mean Jerome Kaino in 2011 for example.

It comes down to the player that had the biggest impact on the game in the year. DC won on the basis of one brilliant performance at a very key time at a very high level.
I doubt there is in depth analysis of all games played.In a non RWC year it does become a reward for the biggest name though. eg this year all of the NH comments about BB were around him being a great player. They just had to have the previous year pointed out to them to notice.

For that reason I was surprised a Lion didn't get it just because that was by far the most prominent stage this year. Beauden's best test (but not spectacular) was probably Lions Test 1 though so perhaps that worked in his favour.

Woodman is the only women's player to make the 2017 team of the year judged by respected rugby website Planet Rugby.
and then how 'respected' PR under-rates BBBR by naming Itoje ahead of him...

one of the comments was amusing and apt...
Its like putting the strongest antelope between a pride of lions.. even though the antelope is still the best among its peers, the lions will eat it up.

It's quite clear:

Was that a disectomy ... or a discectomy?
I suspect that latter refers to trimming a disc so it doesnt press on and restrict the sciatic nerve.
A disectomy ... i hate to think.
