Stuff has an 'article' of selected tweets by Lions fans berating the stupid french ref.
I thought you couldn't wait for the french refs to be in control and stop this silly SH stuff?
Nah, I don't think we were all that bothered one way or another, just asking you lot to tone down the whining about interpretation...

Good to see you aren't in the Stephen Jones camp then. He has harped on all tour about how the ABs undoing will be when they come up against NH refs that know how things really should be.

I've been refreshing the news sites for the last hour or so with no luck.
Does anyone know what time Boyd is calling his overnight presser with fan obtained video for the near death of JB.When he finds the slow motion reverse angle of JBs 'tackle' of Halfpenny
Looked legit to me.
We'll never know.
Like the Cole incident. Ayoub was spotting minor shit all night but no second look at either of these.
TBH I was struggling to find what you were on about in that clip.
Anyway Gatland continues to dig himself a hole of Woodward proportions with this stupid comment...
"I don't think it was anything malicious in terms of Iain Henderson lifting him. He's lifted him and put him on his back. He wasn't trying to hurt him. If he was trying to hurt him he would have really done a good job. "
Intent has nothing to do with it now (unlike in 2005) and the rest of that is just a mind boggling thing to say.
Yeah stupid stuff to say, though I do agree with him that there was no intent and I also understand that is irrelevant. I thought Henderson got himself into a poor position and did his best to not make it worse. Acknowledged he was at fault and took the punishment like a man.
On Gatland's mouthings on this though, it would be interesting to know if he just spouted forth on the subject or if he was responding to an accusation or comment and if so what that comment was like. Context is likely to be the deciding factor if he was defending his man or being a dickhead.

JB led with the shoulder, no tackle IMHO

Gatland has admitted that the backlash he received over the geographical replacements was why he didn't use the bench.
Talk like a clown, act like a clown......
Bigger mistake to not use them, than select them.

Your eyesight must be heaps better than mine. I can't see/tell that at all. It looks to me like I can see both his arms wrapped just after contact

He was responding to a press question which was angling at drawing him out as a hypocrite after the Kaino stuff. It was his added extra that was stupid.

Doesn't explain the way he bounced off Halfpenny and fell the wrong side of him.
If it was a tackle he'd have bounced to his left (Halfpenny's right shoulder) but bounced to his right.

You've still got me perplexed, I'm going to bring up the replay on my TV now. His momentum varied him around after wrapping both arms from my look just then.

@MiketheSnow you mean JB cuddle of a tackle

OK, just watched the replay and there is another shot from behind JB.
It's all a bit odd but nothing illegal. JB launches himself at the tackle in an upward motion then as Halfpenny starts to duck pulls his arms in to avoid making contact with the head. The end result at impact is Halfpenny's shoulder into JBs chest and JB bouncing/sliding off. No question of JB making a shoulder charge as his shoulders are well above Halfpenny's head in clear air.
It was all quite a clumsy attempt by JB and he didn't need to jump into the tackle but as others have mentioned his technique is not the best.

The internet would have gone into melt down, Gatland would have really would have shat himself at the press conference, the AB's would have been blamed for global warming if George Ayoub had said no under the new directives that's a red card for Henderson.

Mainly because it isn't. The directives are that a spear tackle is deemed to have been made it is a red card and work back from that. Thus giving the refs some leeway in determining the sanction. Henderson lifted him just over the horizontal, did not take him up high, tried to manage the descent (didn't completely though) and the guy landed on his shoulder.
Poite and the team got this just about spot on.

Didn't manage to watch whole game, but it would appear YC was the point where Lions blew a near certain victory.
It certainly happened during that time but not solely due to the YC. There were some poor decisions and application of basic skills that contributed as well.
-
@Catogrande That maybe so but George Ayoub is a serial offender for fucking up.
-
@Wreck-Diver Ah, sorry. I misinterpreted your post. You're are correct. He is.

Should clarify something though, as certainly the UK comms team were talking out of there collective arses (especially when they still moan about the BOD incident). 'managing the descent'only comes into effect if you manage it in a way that the player lands safely. Landing on your shoulder is not landing safely.
Also the players hand down to break his fall is 'removed'. i.e. if he stops himself from landing on his head then the sanction is as if he did land on his head.BTW 'just over the horizontal'? He was only not completely vertical because he was bracing himself with his arm.
It was an accident just like the BODs one. Difference is that since people had such a big cry over that some clear directives have been brought in to deal with accidents like this. Just like accidental high contact or accidental taking out a player in the air.
