He really did look comfortable up there. Now, I'm a bit worried that he's going to be wasted at the Canes unless he starts playing 13....
Where is @Tim with his Blues recruitment plans...
Normally I heart Boyd, but IMHO his claim that Jordie is a fullback is bollocks. He doesn't have the acceleration or, for want of a better word, dexterity, to be a world class FB. But he has the size, pass and skill to be an excellent 12 or 13.
I hate to say it, but it might be a shame that he didn't choose the Saders.
I think it's more a case of getting him on the field to get him experience whilst still a youngster. He's a skillful player and given he has a good boot, fullback isn't a bad place. Anything coaches say these days is taken with a massive grain of salt.
Plus the fullback options for the Canes are slim other than playing one of the wingers (NMS, Jane) out of position.
Midfield there is Laumape, Proctor and Aso. Aso a better winger but there are two ABs there with Savea and NMS.

For sure. That's why he might have benefited more at the Saders. He most likely would have had much more game time at 12. He also already had a very successful partnership with Goodhew.
It's just frustrating to see a guy play in the wrong position.

Same shit, different day

@Tim some of Loe's criticisms of the Lions could equally be labeled towards the Canes. In particular the first 20-30 minutes the Canes were lying on the Lions sides at the breakdown when Lions had possession. Slowed ball up quite a bit.
-
@Rancid-Schnitzel the thing though is this season he probably would've played fullback for the Saders with Crotty still playing quality footy and Goodhue in form. Havili to the bench and Jordie to fullback. Then we have Tamanivalu and Bateman as midfielders. Other than Dagg we are a bit light on for fullback but have got lucky with Havili filling the void when Dagg was injured.

Yep. That's what often happens when you're under the cosh.

I've been refreshing the news sites for the last hour or so with no luck.
Does anyone know what time Boyd is calling his overnight presser with fan obtained video for the near death of JB.When he finds the slow motion reverse angle of JBs 'tackle' of Halfpenny

Looked legit to me.

We'll never know.
Like the Cole incident. Ayoub was spotting minor shit all night but no second look at either of these.

TBH I was struggling to find what you were on about in that clip.
Anyway Gatland continues to dig himself a hole of Woodward proportions with this stupid comment...
"I don't think it was anything malicious in terms of Iain Henderson lifting him. He's lifted him and put him on his back. He wasn't trying to hurt him. If he was trying to hurt him he would have really done a good job. "
Intent has nothing to do with it now (unlike in 2005) and the rest of that is just a mind boggling thing to say.

Just re-watched it and the Cole one was checked.
Edit - YouTube killed the link
Tackle was at 49.35 on the match clock. Poite asks the TMO to have a look. At 49.55 he obviously gets the call and says, 'Okay, we play on. Tackle fine, 3 red'
Without seeing the replay the TMO had access to, hard to say either way. But looked dodgy on the wide angle at full speed

Same. I had to watch that clip about 10 times until I finally saw Jordie make a tackle (right at the end, just before the try). Nothing wrong with it IMO. Didn't look high or late.
Agree with the rest, too. In the post-match interview Gatland said a penalty would have been enough, it didn't look like a card to him. Yeah, right. He went over the horizontal; definitely YC. If JB had landed on his head or neck instead of his shoulder, it would have been red.

Stuff has an 'article' of selected tweets by Lions fans berating the stupid french ref.
I thought you couldn't wait for the french refs to be in control and stop this silly SH stuff?
Nah, I don't think we were all that bothered one way or another, just asking you lot to tone down the whining about interpretation...

Good to see you aren't in the Stephen Jones camp then. He has harped on all tour about how the ABs undoing will be when they come up against NH refs that know how things really should be.

Yeah stupid stuff to say, though I do agree with him that there was no intent and I also understand that is irrelevant. I thought Henderson got himself into a poor position and did his best to not make it worse. Acknowledged he was at fault and took the punishment like a man.
On Gatland's mouthings on this though, it would be interesting to know if he just spouted forth on the subject or if he was responding to an accusation or comment and if so what that comment was like. Context is likely to be the deciding factor if he was defending his man or being a dickhead.
